Most excited place in UCSF dental sch is the cadaver lab.
Most important concept is to keep option open and a open mind.
Life is a continuous learning experience.
Basically the program runs from 9-4pm.
After breakfast, the speaker Dr. Irene Hilton, DDS/MPH, came and gave the first talk. Due to technical diffculties, the computer and microphone are not working. (problem with compartibility of zip drive) I like the talk because it brings out different side of dentistry. Rather than "traditional" private practice, UCSF is definitely one of the school out there. My impression is that they want to try leaders. Dr. Hilton is involved with too many cultural groups in community health centers. And she shares her experience with clinical practice, MPH, residency (knowing that we can go to specialty free, it is quite good), teaching, research. Let me know if you want me to elaborate.
Then a student financial service advisor came and talked about financial aid. Two words: loan consolidation.
Then lunch. Being one of the last people to get food, I was half full. But the chat is wonderful. Meet a brilliant girl who I certainly want to be classmate with next year.
After lunch, tour the facility. In their lab, a lot of students came back to show us/study for exams. They also added the new LCD monitor and plastic head for students. Students are very happy to see those instruments.
Then tour around UCSF. They just have to put a huge window for every single spot that can view the ocean/golden gate bridge. but the most impressive thing is the odorless cadaver lab. Thanks Bassam and Gina to lead us there and show me the first cadaver. (i do mice research, so got used to internal organs and stuff)
Then student panel.
they share many valuable opinions.
besides free lunches every other day,
the cultural diversity is really a plus.
They simply set the highest standard and train you to be perfect.
Then Dr. Bradshaw came back to conclude the program by explaining dental sch admission process.
This is getting way too long.
Pls let me know what interests u and we can discuss.
