First, the housing is AWFUL. Whoever said the market was getting better is full of crap. Prices started climbing again, and you still pay either 1000-1400 for a hole in the wall that hasn't been remodeled since 1950, or 2200 for a "priviledge" to live in Haight Ashbury. The landlors want basically a Jesus-type person and credit history. Everyone is in your business. Before i rented the apt. i am at now, the landlord had a neighbor give me an interview (!!) --how pathetic is that?--to make sure I was 'the right person'.
2) there is no normal supermarket in this city. Safeway is overpriced, and there are a bunch of those stinky European-style markets that don't have everything you need, so you have to drive to Daly City to go to a real store.
3) it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a job. I have been looking since March, and haven't found one yet. Every one wants a waiter with 20 years of experience, or a secretary with a PhD. I mean, you get the point.
4) Parking-- i am not even gonna go there. This is the biggest money-making scam I have ever seen.
5)Food--overpriced. Starbucks here should be renamed Star Bucks.
6) Level of poverty and crime--Market street speaks for itself, and there were 3 articles on the front page of Chronicle that SFPD is the worst in terms of solving violent crimes among big cities.
Well, enough SF bashing. I haven't even started school, but I already resent this city. The bridge is not that impressive either. You can walk over to the other side in less than 15 minutes.
You guys shold be happy to be in LA. There is just too much bull**** and snobbishness in the bay area.
What kind of a city would have a requirement to move your car 1/10 of a mile every 72 hours???
Only in San Francisco...•••••
