Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you have heard from our beloved yet? Letters were mailed on tuesday the 19th and am eager to here how we did this month. If I didn't include your name in the subject, please feel free to provide your results. I know there are other waiting as well (drewskovich, rhiana, etc). Good luck to all of you. :D

I'm waiting as well. But I interviewed there in late Feb, so I guess I shouldn't expect anything until late April.... So sick of waiting.

I interviewed there late Feb as well, and I guess I shouldn't expect anything until late April. My first interview went pretty well, but I wasn't able to "click" with my student interviewer. Anyone heard how heavily student interviews weigh? Some schools value them equal to a faculty.

no mail yet for me. it doesn't sound like anyone else has received anything either, which gives me a shred of hope...if i miss this cycle, i think i'm pretty much done at ucsf. it's been 13+ weeks.

jmejia

both interviews receive equal weight ( i'm pretty sure about this). they write up reports and your interviews are given numerical ranks. these get factored into the equation. there is another thread that describes the acceptance procedure (maybe last months dday)..in that, interviews/maturity goes for about 1/3 of the weight. i've heard from other people (at ucsf now) that your interviews are graded from 1 to 4 and they both have to add up to a total of 7 to still sit pretty. i'm not sure if this is correct, but I trust the source. so a 4 and a 3, or two 3.5's will do it for you.

just b/c you didn't 'click' doesn't mean that the interview went badly. if you were able to maturely convey your uniqueness and reasons why you are prepared..you'll be fine..

anyway, hope that helped.

drewsko...hang in there. many people have waited 12+ weeks in the past and have gotten accepted. i'm pullin for you.

Hey everyone,

I actually did receive an acceptance on Wednesday (dated 3/18)! Sorry I didn't post the information earlier. I've been in kind of a dream state since then, and I also wanted to see if there were some others who had heard as well. Needless to say, it was a great feeling! Hope that you all get the wonderful news soon!

I interviewed on 1/31

oh **** mwilson, that is awesome

that means i might be in this batch!! interviewed the day before you, but live on the east coast. pray for me.

soujah1,

How do they score letters of recommendation? Is it different depending on who the letters came from? Mine were from medical school professors (3 MD, 1 Ph.D.), a clinical research subject, my AmeriCorps supervisor, and a history professor.

Is there any part of the application that doesn't receive a score?

And sorry to bombard you with even more questions, but what is most important to show in the interview besides maturity? Or in the rest of the application? I know that in general UCSF is looking for people with neat and unusual experiences, but beyond that I'm not sure.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Congratulations, you must be ecstatic to get in.
Souljah, I too am waiting desperatly to hear from them. Let's keep up our spirits and hope that we get in.

still wating here from 12/10 interview. I think ive got the record for the longest wait from UCSF here. Congrats to all the got in this round. I would be ecstatic. Im getting my first tattoo, quitting my job, and partying endlessly when I get that letter. still optomistic but fadin fast

Hey guys,

I just received an acceptance in the mail yesterday (3/25). The letter was written 3/18 and postmarked 3/19. I interviewed on 2/7. Good luck to everyone.

vmn2,

First off..congrats to you!!! Was UCSF your number one choice? You think you'll go?

Do you mind telling me where you live? I don't mean your address, but east coast/west coast? I'm on the east coast, and if I don't get anything today or tomorrow, I'm assuming that I'm not in this batch. I'd appreciate the response.

Again, congrats

sproggin,

i interviewed on 12/17 and i just called to see if anything had been decided. the woman on the other end chastised me for asking about my application - apparently they told us when we interviewed that application information would not be given out over the phone. i responded that they also said we'd hear in 8-12 weeks and she said that was the usual timeline, but sometimes it takes longer. i'm not hopeful.

i'm applying to the mstp program, and am still waiting to hear back from them about that, which should be monday next week. if i get in to the mstp, i'm definitely going to ucsf...if i don't i'll probably go to the ucsd mstp.

i'm in north carolina, so it took 6 days for the big envelope to arrive. its possible that the letter just got slowed down so don't lose hope yet.

Congratulations, mwilson and vmn2! We'll see each other on 2nd look weekend?

 :D  :D

Still no word yet for me. I think I can expect a small envelope sometime soon. Thanks for checking though!

sarahl,

the interviewers are relaxed and friendly. there is little to no stress. they didn't ask me a bunch of ethical questions or dwell on why i want ucsf. in fact, they didn't even ask. it was clear they are interested in finding out about you the applicant, not your stats. the interviews are blind and you interviewers only look at your file after they have submitted their evaluation of you. they know that anyone who makes it to the interview stage is qualified, and because of this, focus on assembling a diverse class with sincere motivations for medicine. it was clear that they want to produce good docs that treat people not just symptoms. did you get an interview?
good luck!!
