I just received an invite to fill out a secondary for ucsf. To my suprise, it is a fill-in secondary and requires no essays. I worked at ucsf and shadowed several doctors there and I was hoping to focus on that and detail my interest in attending the school. What should I do? Should i attach a letter to the adcom with the secondary?

Sorry for interrupting your thread, but when did they get your AMCAS at UCSF, as listed on the status page? They've had mine since 7/29/04. If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats? Its okay if you don't reply, I completely understand.

I would think the best way to go about this is just call them and ask. Hear it from them directly. Some schools explicitly state to not attach anything. But if your shadowing and work with the doctors was that important, did you include it in your PS?

there was a thread on this a bit ago. you're allowed 2 full pages of whatever you want. i called the adcom ppl and asked them this. have fun writing it!

Hi, I'm not the first poster, but I also received the ucsf secondary today. They received my application data on 8/6/2004. My stats are gpa 3.83, mcat 38p, extracurriculars average (i'm guessing). But really, someone else's stats can't tell you what's going to happen. Nevertheless, best of luck!

of course i don't mind...im glad to help. UCSF got my AMCAS on Aug 6. I received my secondary invite today Sept 13. I took the August MCAT and my gpa is a little higher than the average of last year's entering class.

Wow, so they didn't even get your MCAT scores yet and sent you a secondary?

Congrats though. Best of luck with apps. I was very close to working at UCSF also doing research, but decided to not take the job. UCSF is probably a long shot for me, but I grew up in SF and love it there. Doesn't hurt to try I guess.
