I have seen many vs. threads, but I do not think that I have seen this one...so, if, by the grace of God, you are given an acceptance to both of these awesome CA schools, which one would you choose?

UCSF: no undergrad campus
UCLA: undergrad campus

Both have really good medicine and research programs. This one is hard.

Both schools are so good Id probably leave it up to which place I would like to live in more, friends, family, etc. all the non academic stuff.

ucla has an amazing location (close to da clubs)

also, UCLA has great dual degree programs. UCSF is stellar, but UCLA is the illest out.

I will not be making this decision since I got rejected already from UCSF and am waiting to hear from UCLA but I would go with SF....I went to UCLA for a year as an undergrad and then transferred since it sucked. Sure it's LA and if you're not from Cali then it's kind of alluring but trust me, being a Cali girl, SF is way more fun than LA.

UCLA. They treat you better in your clinical years. cheaper to live than S.F. Lastly, weather is so much better. Plus having undergrads nearby is fun.

UCSF in a heartbeat. Both schools are excellent and very well respected, (UCSF more-so in the medicine-wrold, duh) so it would mostly would come down to location for me....I grew up in SF but have lived in So Cal now for the last 7 years, specifically LA for the last 4, so I know both locations pretty well.... and I have to say, L.A. is pretty nice (esp. Brentwood) but it BLOWS compared to S.F....too many fake tits, gangs, traffic jams and overall dirtyness for me. You can only hide in West LA for so long before the ugliness will find you!

I agree witht the end of your post Zoom-Zoom! Very well placed. This city is kind of plastic. It's definitely hyper-image based.

Just want to add a little note on housing options at each school (if this is a big factor to you):

UCLA: Most M1/M2 students live in a brand spanking new apartment complex that's about a 10 minute walk to the med school campus. This also means that it's located down the street from the center of Westwood Village, complete with a movie theater, hookah bar, good restaurant, etc. Want more? Rent is pretty damn cheap (~$900/ month for a 2 bed/2 bathroom, I think) considering the location in Westwood.

UCSF: They also have a brand new apartment complex for students at the Mission Bay campus. However, the campus is a good 20-30 min drive from the med campus (there's a shuttle that runs throughout the day). While Mission Bay has a sweet new gym & research facilities closeby, that's about all that it offers; the rest of the area is fairly dead. I think they're still developing the area, but right now, there isn't much to do closeby. Also, the rent is upwards of $1000/mo.

You can also live in an older apartment right by the med school campus, but those tend to be more expensive & smaller.

Hope this helps some lucky bastard that has to decide between these 2 great schools 😎
