look at this:

<a href="http://www.neurosurgery.ufl.edu/Residents/cv/zipfel.html" target="_blank">http://www.neurosurgery.ufl.edu/Residents/cv/zipfel.html</a>

says he won the congressional medal of honor..which he did not! (I checked the recipeint list). Has UF started to lie about their residents?

are you sure about that?

it might be that the doctor lied, because he's the one that gives the school his credentials. anyway, there must be some mistake, i don't think either UF or the doctor would lie.

but actually since they rejected me pre-interview:
YEAH YEAH, UF LIES, UF LIES!!!

FIRE, FIRE...(beavis & butthead)

hmmm, interesting. Can you post the link that has the recipients?

Foxy,

<a href="http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/moh1.htm" target="_blank">http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/moh1.htm</a>

btw, in my opinion, UF should make the correction VERY soon. Where I come from, the congressional medal of honor is extraordinarily sacred!

•Foxy,

<a href="http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/moh1.htm" target="_blank">http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/moh1.htm</a>•••••where do I click? can you please give me the exact link?

Thanks (i'm lazy)

Now this is the kind of UF COM trash talking I like to see! <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

😛

I have to drive by that evil hospital every day! 🙁 why?!? WhY!?! WHY!!?!!

that is the exact link. It has every recipient for every war....go to the bottom of each conflict (Z), and there is no zipfel. Furthermore, I searched for the name zipfel on every thread, and nothing came up. FURTHERMORE, I ran search strings containg Zipfel and "congressional" "medal" "honor" or a combination of the above: NOTHING!

zipfel is a german name..in fact, I know a couple of ex-nazi fighters with that name..perhaps he got confused? <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

anyway, this is no laughing matter, and should be remedied STAT.

but who cares about that when they are posting false recipients for the congressional medal of honor? 😡

Owcc,
You should know that the RESIDENT posted that CV and the school is in no way obligated to verify anything on it except items that would pertain to his LEGAL ability to function as a doctor / instructor. I doubt anyone ever questioned it...if you're so incensed, why don't you write the department of neurosurgery about it?

Frankly, I think it DOES suck if this guy really IS lying about getting the CMH...since my hubby is active-duty and it's dear to OUR hearts too. But chances are probably better that the feds forgot to include his name on the list, than it is that he's lying about it. Lord knows the military screws paperwork stuff up ALL the time...

Oh yeah, for the record, I just got done with neuroanatomy and we had a FEMALE professor, and SEVERAL female TA's (4th yrs & residents)...

This is weird! You guys must have really dug to find something like this. I know Dr. Zipfel and it's very possible that this was a joke; albeit in poor taste. I'll ask him next time I see him. As far as I know CMH are only given during combat and I can't think of any major combat operations in 1986 (although my US military history is less than adequate). So I would have to concur that this is not true. I don't think this reflects on the University of Florida in any way; but I agree that it is in very poor taste if it is untrue. It is disrespect towards those who sacrificed so much to attain such an honored award. I used to be a UF basher, but I was recently accepted and will be attending UF COM next year; so now I am a UF defender. There is a possibility that it's true and we're just looking in the wrong place. But more likely it is an ill advised joke and I'm sure Dr. Zipfel would fix it if he knew it provoked such a reaction. Take it easy

This was my first interviewer of the admission cycle, so I definitely remember walking in to her office to see a couple young ladies that told me they did research for her and coming back from the bathroom to find a very young looking female interviewer smiling up at me.

joehuf,

it isn't UF bashing, and I came across it on a chance when I was looking at UF NS resident info. Pls post the docs response on here for us when you talk to him. thx,

perhaps the award was given out in 1986 for previous combat experience. sometimes they take a long time to issue out those awards.
