I am currently waitlisted at my one shot for med school next year and I most likely won't hear until June...everything about my app was great except I had a 7PS so obviously that makes everything else mean almost nothing to some schools...anyway if I reapply I was told to retake the MCAT 'cause that's the only thing holding me back and it's really just the PS score that was a problem...but do I really want to do that??? I want to go to med school it's all I've been focused on for years I took the MCATS 2x already (I had mono and was just disoriented for the first time and blew it) I really don't know if I want to do that all over again...I want to go to med school but I also can't see studying my butt off to re-take it and then find out a month later I got into the school off the waitlist...I'm thinking of going to work in NYC for a year (kinda been a dream of mine) but I doubt I'd come back wanting to apply to med school after and to top it off my bf is going to Harvard dental next year and is thrilled about it and I'm kinda just in a rut...not a good situation to say the least...any advice? I feel like someone's gnona say it doesn't really sound like I want it badly enough but I don't think it's that I think it's that I'm just mentally exhausted from this tortursome process...ugh sorry it's so long-winded I don't usually post anything

i'm in a similar situation right now... my problem was that i didn't apply broadly enough (stupid stupid stupid). so, i definitely know what you're going through!

so your PS score is bad, but how is your MCAT and GPA overall? if your overall MCAT scoor is not bad, i wouldn't retake the MCAT. i've heard that even though the 3x limit was revoked for the CBT, medical schools still frown upon taking the MCAT too many times. if your GPA is poor, you might think about getting a post-bacc or SMP. that way you won't fall out of the "groove" of going to school.

working in NYC sounds pretty cool too, and maybe a year or two off is exactly what you need to gain some perspective... speaking as someone who is in a similar situation -- i was really freaked out at first, but after talking to a lot of advisors, i've come to terms with the fact that there is nothing wrong with taking my time. and enjoying my youth. :)

Yea I hear ya...I have about a 3.6GPA and 10BS 10VR Q for my other scores so they're not fantastic but I'm ok with them. It's just tough 'cause I want to be a relatively "young" mom and now feel like I'm always working for the next thing instead of enjoying the moment. It's tough but I'm trying to leave it up to fate for the moment and do my best to get through the next few months without being miserable. Thanks.

I definately feel ya...Waitlisted at my only interveiw school. Mine was a 8ps,28-O. I might take it again, sure it was a lot of work, but don't know what else to do. I think I can improve at least a couple of points.
