Is anyone planning or has applied to the UIC's GPPA Program?

I went through the GPPA application process four years ago. If I remember correctly, there were 300+ applicants, and maybe 60 or so were accepted.
I was accepted, but chose to go elsewhere. I just recently applied to UIC Medicine through the traditional route, and found the process to be virtually identical. Granted, there is no AMCAS or MCAT involved in the GPPA application process. However, the format of the interview, tour, etc. were almost identical.
Now that I think about it, the GPPA route is a little bizarre. There I was, 17 yrs old, in a bad suit and looking childish, applying to medical school!
In hindsight, I am glad I did not accept a place in the GPPA program. Having four more years to really think about whether medicine was really for me was great.
