UIC Interviewees: When do we find out whether we got in or not?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Does anyone know when UIC will send out their first round of acceptances/rejections/etc?

I interviewed at UIC about a week ago, and my status page said that a decision was made this Friday and I'll receive a snail mail within 2 weeks. 😱 They also said NOT to call them, because they won't tell you over the phone. I feel sorry for my mailman, who is doomed to constant stalking until I find out either way.... 😛

Good luck to you, and I hope you get good news soon! :luck:

Thanks I got that message as well 🙂 Does that mean we're not on hold because a final decision was made? Do they send out rejections this early? I hope a final decision=acceptance 🙂

wow...i got that notice too. they told us in our interview that they like to make decisions quickly so that applicants have the opportunity to consider them because they said that most applicants interviewing so early get multiple acceptances...so hopefully a quick turnaround means they want us to consider them 🙂

That would be great (they didn't say anything like that at my interview)! Here's to hoping... 😀

Well, at least we'll all know the final outcome pretty soon! I haven't noticed anyone from UIC on the Wall of Fame, so perhaps we can be the first. 😉

Lots of luck to everyone! :luck:

My status page now says "Additional Correspondence 10/24/2005" in the "Interview Scheduling" boxes, so it looks like they sent off the letters today. Some of us could conceivably find out tomorrow. :scared: :luck: to all!

If you read the forums from last year..............everyone with the "final decision has been made" notice got accepted 🙂 Those rejected still had "application in progress" and those on hold got an e-mail. So I hope it's the same thing this year too.

Thanks for the tip! From reading those threads, things sound very promising. 👍

Thanks! Good luck on your interview there, Speed! Are you interviewing at Chicago, Peoria, or Rockford? I'm sure you're already checking this out, but just a heads up--the interviews are conducted differently depending upon the campus. Chicago appears to be interviewing 1 interviewer/1 interviewee (but multiple interviews) again this year, while the Peoria & Rockford campuses are panel interviews of 3/1 (and only 25 minutes long total). :luck: :luck:

thanks for the advice! i haven't scheduled my interview yet because it will be quite the trek out there (and i want to stay for awhile b/c chicago is the ****). however, i was assuming i could interview in chicago because i'm flying in, and there's no way in hell i am trying to get to peoria or rockford... wrong assumption? especially since i won't have too much traveling time available.

plus, is this the time to call other chicago schools to inquire about interviews? because i don't have the cash to be making multiple trips out there. i'm worried about calling and the school saying "ok we've made a decision. you're rejected."

don't want to rush them....no pun intended!!!

They might make some accommodations for you because you're traveling from further away, but when I called for my interview date there were only Rockford and Peoria interview spots available (and Chicago would have been the most convenient for me). I wouldn't recommend pushing the date too far out in order to get a Chicago interview slot, though, since they have rolling admissions (and rumor has it that the Chicago campus fills up some time in Dec. or early Jan.). Why don't you call them to see what slots are actually available? (My status page showed interview dates for all 3 campuses, but some of them weren't available to me, even though I called the day I got the letter.) They were pretty nice when I called, even though I had to call them back later with the official date since I hadn't anticipated having to interview at a different campus.

As for the other schools, it might not be a bad idea to email/call the other schools politely, as some people have done in the other threads. You might get reviewed a little faster, and they shouldn't reject you just because you ask nicely and explain the travel situation. If they come back with a quick rejection, you probably would have been rejected anyway, and it's probably better to know that anyway!
