I have to choose between UIC and UCSD since these interviews are on the same day. Can anyone give me their $0.02 about either of these programs? Thanks!
UIC has an awesome program. UCSD has awesome weather.
From what I hear, the didactics at UCSD are... not great, but since their residents tend to be incredibly smart... they learn things on their own. UIC has superb teaching, but of course is not located in San Diego. UIC's new chair is REALLY awesome.
Just wanted to see if anyone else had any new opinions between UCSD and UIC/IEEI? Is the program at UIC much stronger or is the poster above just splitting hairs?
Also, can anyone touch on the latest fellowship matches at both programs? I don't remember hearing about UCSD.
UIC has been losing a lot of faculty of late... Personally not sure of the specifics into the how and why, maybe others here are more in the know and could share whether or not this is a developing concern.
I am a resident at UIC and I wanted to clarify that we have not lost a lot of faculty lately. Our previous chairman left almost two year ago and since then we have had an amazing chairman for more than a year. Faculty did not leave when our previous chairman left. I think our program is very stable and all of our core faculty are still part of the department. Several younger faculty left the pediatrics department and new faculty have been hired. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.
