Interviewed at UIC a few weeks ago...got an email saying no decision has been made on your file.....do you guys know how long UIC takes to make a decision. And is this their waitlist?

Some of my friends got this email too. I think it is a waitlist, or some form of it.

It's a waitlist but it does not mean you will actually end up on the final waitlist that is compiled in early June. You can still be rejected from this list. On the bright side though, you can still gain admission in the interim b/w now and the time the waitlist is compiled as people w/multiple acceptances start narrowing down their choices in the next few months. UIC seems to admit a large number of people that have multiple acceptances as they go quite deep into their final waitlist.

I don't think it's the waitlist. When I interviewed there last month they told us that the adcom in Chicago meets at the end of the month to discuss all the people they interviewed. Depending on how close to the end of the month you interviewed, they might not get to you. They do batch acceptances after the committee meeting which come out in the first week or so of the next month. I think that email just means they didn't get to you so you're slated for the next adcom meeting at the end of February.

actually the admissions people told us upfront that if you're in the no decision pile, you're technically supposed to be re-reviewed each month, but in reality you won't be until may...
