Hi guys. I am a year 2 Urology resident in the UK. My field of interest is Female and male reconstructive surgery. Academically, I am currently in the last few months of my PhD in biomaterials engineering, I have a masters in surgical sciences from the University of Edinburgh and I have a few book chapters and 6 first author papers (functional and reconstructive themed) in good journals. Due to family circumstances, I might need to move to the US which is why I have started looking at the US residency system. My graduation year was 2009 and I am 36 years old. I am looking for some guidance here regarding what to aim for to make my application competitive to get into residency in Urology. With step 1 being pass/fail, Step 2 CK scores would be key for good programs. Other than that, a few observerships to get US LORs? Im aiming to apply next year before the September deadline. Id be grateful for your advice and guidance.
