Hi,
Does anyone out there know statistics for UMASS med?

US News and World Report says the acceptance rate is 23%. I was wondering though how many people they offer interviews to, and what percentage of those people get accepted?

Thanks.

The only thing I know about UMass admissions is that you have to be a state resident to go there. In-state tuition is nice, but I'd pay anything to not have to spend 4 years in Worcester.

Here is the chart from US News on their #s for 2004.

Applied Interviewed Accepted Enrolled
Total: 692 355 164 102
In-state: 602 345 160 100
Out-of-state: 90 10 4 2
Women: 368 205 92 55
Minorities: N/A N/A N/A 12

I dont recall getting the 2005 #s as part of the interview info packet, but if someone else did, maybe they can post them.

The oos #s are those folks applying to MD/PhD which does accepted oos. The residency requirement for MD is that you had to have graduated from a Mass high school or have lived in the state for five years immediately before matriculating.

Hope this helps!

It's med school though - I am not going for my social life. With the money you safe, you can pick a better location (aka, not the slums becuase you can't afford anything else due to med school debt) to live for the rest of your life.

AMitchell - That was a great help, it was exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks.
