UMass!!!!!!!

Went to a party in RI last night, and left before I could check my mail. When I got home (at 2 am) there was a large envelope from UMass in my mailbox. I was still dubious, thinking it could be a waitlist letter or something. But it was an acceptance! I called my parents at 2, and they were like "Are you drunk/hurt?!" Me: "No I got into UMass!!!!!!!" Anyway whoever said that the committee met on the 15th, was right on. I hope there is an acceptance for Goose, ajz, and everyone else waiting for them. I really can't believe this...I had 0 acceptances on Monday..then I got into two schools...and now UMass.It's just overwhelming. Anyway all you UMass people out there, I hope there is good news waiting for you. I hope to be your classmate next year!!!!

Bee-My interview was 12/5. Acceptance was dated 2/15.

yeah I've gotten no love from UMass as of yet. I hope they still want more Crusaders!! So apparantly it looks like I must wait until March 15th til the next mailing...not that waiting is anything new to me!! But I'm lucky to have a fallback in case UMass negs me..I never thought I would be in a position of choice..so no matter what happens, this process has gone so much better than expected...but I still would like to get the big packet from UMASS too! :wink:

Goose I just checked the email distribution list for the UMassMed class of 2005 (as an employee I have access to that) and there are 10 people (yes 10% of the class) from HC in the first year class, 8 who graduated with me in '00 and 2 from '99. And there are probably others whose names I don't recognize, Futterman could probably tell you for sure.
So I'm sure you have a great shot at getting in. I think one of the major reasons I got in (somewhat) early is because I've given three years of my life to this school as a researcher. They HAVE to let me in!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you next month. But what about that rule that they have to fill the class by March 15th or so?--in that case you might be getting mail sooner than you think.

wow, 10, thats crazy..i'm waiting and hoping for good news. Is it a UMass thing to fill the class by March 15th?? or is that a universal thing?? hopefully, because I can't stand the waiting anymore!! is there even a question for you, or is it UMASS 100% definitely??

All schools are required to hand out enough acceptances (ie 100) to fill their classes by March 15, however this date has been extended a couple weeks this year. So plenty of time for you to hear.
I almost 99.99% sure I'm going to UMass. I cancelled my remaining interviews and declined my other two acceptances. The only school that I interviewed at that would be tempting is Penn. I almost hope I don't get in because that would be a really hard decision to make.
How about you? My tour guide at BU chose BU over UMass and she said it was really a hard decision. She gave me a bunch of reasons (clinical exposure etc.)but I think it boiled down to the fact that her boyfriend was a resident in Boston

Hey, just out of curiousity, was it a thick envelope or a thin one (I haven't taken my Lithium yet today, so just work with me, OK?...LOL)

Wasn't a thick enevelope but it was a large one--ie 8X12. There were about 4 pages altogether-- the official letter, a dxn of the learning contract (it wasn't very thorough though so I'm going to fin aid to get the low down), a fin aid form, and a page of instructions telling you how to send in your deposit. One of the pages is pink and it shows through the envelope and there is a paper clip too..so you can tell before you open it..yes I stared it down before I tore it open...and gave myself a little pep talk too...so now who needs Li?
I'm lonely here as the only acceptee--I hope you guys will join me soon. Since I've been accepted I'm now directing my prayers and best wishes to y'all. Hope it works!

I didnt know about that March 15th thing..but that's good..hopefully they can mail some good stuff up 290 to me by then!
if I get in, it'll be real hard to pass up. I'm psyched about BU, because I think that is my 2nd choice behind UMass. I love the city and there is great clinical experiences at BU, but the price is ridiculous. A difference of some $30,000 a year would be very hard to pass up!
I was just leafing back through old threads and came across your one that said you were getting a sinking feeling...hmmm...let me guess, you are no longer sinking!!?
