hey guys,
i have applied to UMD, but haven't heard from them yet. we can make a list of people here who have been accepted at umd or are still waiting to be contacted, so we can have a better idea about how many people are in the same situation.

I got an email yesterday with the subject "December 1st offer". Stated that I was accepted and they would send the info. UMD was my 3rd choice and I got into my #2 so far. I will call Maryland next week to turn down the offer and open more for everyone else. It was just too much $$ for out of state.
My stats were DAT 22/20/22 BCP 3.68 Sci 3.71.

I interviewed early November and still haven't heard from them. I'm getting kind of concerned though since it seems that they have already sent out the first round of acceptances. Does anyone know if they continue to accept people in December or if they wait until January for the next round? Has anyone called the school? If so, were they helpful?

Thanks!

I called the office this morning and the lady told me that the next round of acceptances will go out in 2-3 weeks from now. I guess until then we won't hear anything.

Congrats on your acceptance. I interviewed at Maryland last week and loved the facilities and program. I'm wondering how easy/hard it is to become a Maryland resident to pay in-state tuition. I live in Virginia and am thinking that I picked the wrong side of the Potomac! If I move to Maryland next semester and work for a few months before D-school I'm hoping that might sway the residency office. Any thoughts??

to the last poster: i was born and raised in MD and went to college in illinois - you wouldn't believe how many hoops you have to go to get residency!!! their policies are all outlined deep on their website if you are still curious, but i know for a fact that you have to be in the state for 12 consecutive months (living) before you matriculate to gain residency so a couple of months may not be enough. go check it out though!

i lived in MD from age 6 until last december when i took a job in VA between undergrad and d-school, and i can't get in-state status. so apparently this past year is a lot more important than that little insignificant 18-year-span just prior.

To respond to your post -- I have been accepted. Was notified on December 1st through email and then received certified mail the next day.

Good luck!
