Congrats ChuckRock! For all those accepted, where does NJMS rank on your list? For all you current NJMSers, are there opportunities to go back and have a second look at the school?

congrats guys, i got a call saturday night, definitely wasn't expecting to hear so early. on the phone, dean heinrich told me that i shoudl visit again if i ever wanted to come back and sit in on some classes or just walk around. if i'm in jersey at some point in the next few months, i'll probably take him up on that, my tour had to be cut short because of my interview.

I'm in too. I just got a call from Dean Heinrich. I happy.

I'd say NJMS is up there on my list. There is great clincal training and they seem to prep you pretty well for the boards. I am almost positive there is an "accepted students" day where you can revisit, and they even measure you for a white coat just to get you more excited about the school.

hey, do you have a car? if so, do you park in the NJMS lot? on the day of my interview, i had to drive around the lot for 15 mins before i finally gave up and parallel parked in some random corner. not that is gonna greatly impact my decision on whether to attend, but i figure it would be nice to not have to worry about parking every day.

I found out I got in today because my cell phone was stolen friday night. I'm definitely accepting the offer.

ya i do have a car. and for me parking isnt really a problem. However, luckily u all wont have any problems parking b/c they are building a new deck with crazy amounts of parking. In addition, the students that will be living in the new dorms will have their own deck to park in.....so i wouldnt worry bout the parking. I know the parking is a pain in the a** now, but tats only cuz there is a lot of construction goin on. 😎

drguy, what can you tell us about the new housing? Is it set up as a dorm or an apt. building? Will all first years be guareenteed housing? How many studios, 1 and 2 bedrooms will there be? Have they indiciated how much it will cost a month to live there? Would you live there if you had the chance?

From the NJMS faq it looks like all of the housing will be apartment styled. Sounds like it will be very nice.

basic apartment style and they have yet to release prices however I imagine it won't be cheap. Most people pay about 2000/month for 3 bedroom townhomes in society hill. The 4 bedrooms go anywhere from 2400-2600.

Based on the small number of units and the number of other subdivisions of UMNDJ it is catering to, i doubt the price will be cheap. My personal estimate is 1000 for studios. The numbers could even go higher than that depending on the features that they provide. Compare that to local apartments and you can get a studio for about 600/month (though not the nicest areas) and a 2BR for 1100. Most students in the area who live in society hill will most probably not move out because they can get a nice big room in their townhome for at most 800/month and its not an apartment.

To the incoming class, i would recommend looking at all of your options before settling on the new apartment complex. It could mean the difference of 20k in extra loans when you're done.

i prolly will be living there...( i wont only if the prices are astronomical..which i doubt cuz ithink there are gonna try to fit it into the budget..but we'll see)
