Are they making calls again today? Do they do them Friday as well? Post if you know any information about what they're doing or get the call.

I think they meet every two weeks, so yes, they should meet this week and make phonecalls. Good luck to everyone waiting!!!! :luck: :luck: :luck:

i was told by 2 different secretaries that the adcom is indeed meeting today. i will be staring at my phone all day today. *fingers crossed*

I would start the wait 4pm on. I got the phone call at precisely 6:11pm. 🙂

How much do you think the secretaries that answer at the admissions office know? One that i talked to recently told me 'not to worry at all' and other things about expecting a call. Do you think she could've really known something? I do know they rank people based on total points accumulated for a variety of criteria, including gpa, mcat, and extracurrics. Maybe she saw my total points and it was above some cutoff? I just thought it was really weird to hear something so seemingly positive from the secretary, but i'm not assuming anything.

yeah, I think its just better to wait and just see what happens. Im not sure if the secretaries know your status, but they may. Better to not get your hopes up and be pleasantly surprised! 🙂

Alright guys.
Just got the call.
I'm in.
The dean even apologized for making me wait so long since my interview.
Apparently one of the faculty reviewers had my file for the longest time.
Sit tight. you might be next.
Good luck everyone.

finally....FINALLY...i'm IN. they took a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG F*CKING TIME TO DO THAT. COULD HAVE SAVED ME 3 MONTHS OF STRESS, DESPAIR, AND NEAR DEPRESSION.

As much as I want to say I was ecstatic when I got the call tonight, which I would have been if this were about a month and a half ago, I was a bit bitter. Later, when I forget this happened this way, I think I'll be able to have my delayed celebration--like "OH F*CK, IT REALLY HAPPENED, I GOT F*CKING INTO F*CKING ROBERT WOOD JOHNSON MEDICAL SCHOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!".

I know I should be happy that I only had to take the mcat once and apply once, but that was still an agonizing wait. I only applied to 3 other places (perhaps stupidly and I almost SCREWED myself for it) but this whole process for me was all about getting into RWJMS specifically, and now I'm so THANKFUL it happened.

CONGRATS ROCA!!!!!

Looks like all the agony was for naught. hot damn ! Well, looks like we'll be on the opposite sides of town, i got snuffed by rwj, but i wnated njms anyway.

DRINKS ARE ON whoever gets their loan first!

I am waitlisted. Did anyone that interviewed with Dr. Johnson earn a position? Thanks and good luck to all!

How do you know you are waitlisted? did you get the actual "alternate list" letter? I actually thought they sent them out later.

Good luck.

Found out by calling. No letter received.

well, i was assuming that not hearing anything by this point (interviewed 3 months ago) meant i was waitlisted, especially since i call after every committee meeting and they tell me they haven't gotten around to my file yet, but apparently they are telling people on the phone when they're waitlisted. i guess there's still a glimmer of hope.

hey guys, i am kind of new to sdn. anyways, i applied to rwj...and had my interview 2 months ago...and a couple weeks ago i got the competitive letter. i have sort of been expecting a waitlist because its been so long. but am i checking my mail for no reason...beponychick are you sure they dont notify you of a waitlist until much later? does anybody else know? i guess i should just call them..mann the wait is killing me i REALLY want to go to rwj!

I know last year I was put on a waitlist...that lasted say....3 months post-interview...they sent a letter for us to sign if we want to remain on the waitlist...and I withdrew....its really annoying...the damn waitlists

Hi Njgirl,

They will definitely send you a waitlist letter if you are in fact waitlisted. From my personal experience, getting the competitive letter is not a good thing, unfortunately. It seems to me, that if you receive the letter, then your file is re-reviewed again by maybe a subcommittee and more likely than not, that committee will decide to waitlist you (some, however, are still granted acceptances). This is what happened to me two years ago.

Roca, if im not mistaken, you were waiting for 3 months, but you DID NOT receive the competitive letter, correct? If you didnt, it just means that they took a long time to review your application/interview summary. However, the competitive letter, I believe, is sent to those people whose files have been reviewed already.

Good luck though. People still get in off the waitlist. Check if your letter says "high priority" when you get it.

i have not received any competitive letter, which i previously believed to be working against me, but apparently this likely works in my favor?

yes, i believe so. This probably means that your interviewer is taking his sweet time to write up your evaluation, and that your file has not formally gone before the committee yet. Good luck though. I hope you hear good news!!!!

thanks beponychick...so does anyone know of people that actually did get accepted after receiving the competitive letter? im trying to stay positive but im getting worried...

I searched for other threads discussing the highly competitive letter from RWJ, and from what I've seen it's about 50/50 once you get the letter. I found a previous thread where about 2 or 3 people said they got in after receiving it, and on this thread and another one several people got waitlisted after receiving it. The people who eventually got waitlisted have generally posted something like "Once you get this letter you get waitlisted," which is just them using their personal experience to make a broad statement, so I wouldn't get too worried.

Since it is later in the admissions season, however, I wouldn't be surprised if the odds of an acceptance were a bit worse than in Nov or Dec, but that is solely a guess.

Hey,

In it, they say how they want the "official and final transcripts." I'm still in school, so should I only be having one sent when I graduate in May or do they want something in the mail now with my check? Anybody happen to know? Thanks.

Just send them a final transcript after you are done with school. I think they just want to make sure that you are done with the college requirements.

Uh oh, I received the competitive candidate letter. I am to be reviewed shortly for a spot in the class or on the alternate list. Lets hope I will be part of the team this fall!! I interviewed on December 20th.

sorry guys, i know im obsessed...
but so today, i called robert wood and spoke with one of the secretaries. i asked about my file, and she told me that i should be hearing something soon...i took it as bad news...but then she said "i wish i could tell you more, but i cant...but its good news"...im so confused though...if its "good news," then why havent i received a phone call? i thought they call on the same day they make decisions...could it be possible that she considers wait list to be good news?

oh damn. that is so strange. yes, Dr. Terregino usually calls the same day or the following day. Perhaps your file was reviewed yesterday and you will get the phone call today?

Argh, that is so frustrating im sure.

Hey guys,

I'm a MS I at RWJ, and just wanted to say hi to my (hopefully) future classmates. If any of you have any questions, I'll try to answer them. You can post questions here, but I might not check the forum very frequently because a) I'm not on SDN nearly as much as I used to be, and b) when I am on SDN, I usually go to the Allo forum. So, PMing is also an option.

Just be warned.....don't be upset if I don't respond ASAP. The first years have exams Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week.

Good luck to you all,

SS83

well I had a similar experience with the secretaries there, and it did turn out to be good news, as I got the call. The secretaries at robert wood have been honest with me, unlike those at NJMS who would consistently lie/misinform, so just be confident that you have 'good news' but don't necessarily put a label on that...if you know what i mean.

do you remember if you spoke with Maggie?
...no phone call...so im going to be (not so) patiently waiting this week.

Oh, by the way, jsut to weigh in on the topic of discussion....

I also received the competitive letter, or whatever it was. I had no idea why they sent it, or what it meant. In fact, I still don't. Obviously I ended up getting accepted (about 2-3 weeks later, if I remember correctly), so don't feel like if you get the letter, you're screwed. As far as I'm concerned it's just a waste of paper, and they might as well wait until the actual decisions are made before sending any letters.

That is great to know! I am hoping for some luck to push me through the front door. You are at a great school. Good luck to all those waiting!

interviewed 11/28 so i was actually starting to get really worried. dr. t apologized for it taking so long and said that my interviewer had just taken a long time returning the review.

i wrote them a LOI a couple weeks ago so i will definitely be in the entering class of 2010. i'm excited/relieved/ecstatic beyond belief right now...

good luck to everyone else who is still waiting on RWJ. i haven't heard a word from NJMS yet and i interviewed there back in october and then a 2nd time on 11/21. i preferred RWJ much more over NJMS so i'm glad i got into the school i liked best...

i think i have a nervous break down every other thursday...
no phone call for me 🙁 ...i guess the secretary was wrong about that "good news"

Did anyone earn an acceptance following the receipt of a highly competitive applicant letter?
