Has anybody been called off the alternate list (granted acceptance) at UMDNJ-SOM? Does anyone know their procedure/schedule for alternates?

Please chime-in...

got fresh mail from umdnj adcom today, says "you are in top twenty on alternate list." letter does not give an actual number.

was wondering if there is a higher tier, such as top ten 🙂

in any case, anyone else with news, don't hesitate to chime in.

Hey Desi -

remember me? anyway you draw your own conclusions

I got in touch with a student I met while I was interviewing there. He said he was accepted to UMDNJ-SOM but rejected it to go to his state school. Is it true? who knows. Nonetheless, I said I would let you know if I knew anything.

i must admit, you'd have to have pretty good reasons to withdraw from a state school, though it must happen.

as for me getting in, i'm not holding my breath,
but like the ny lottery guy says, "Hey, you never know."

🙂

My tour guide was called after being on the alternate list...As a matter of fact, I was one of the last five students to be interviewed. We were told that the class if filled, but a substantial number of those enrolled come from the alternate list every year.

Keep your hope up..and good luck

I hate to burst your bubble, but i just ordered graduate school catalog from U.S. news and they state that out of the 88 people UMDNJ-SOM admitted all 88 decided to enroll.

Sounds unlikely to me, honestly. Even Hopkins has a waitlist, and I can think of more than one or two people who would turn down our particular brand of osteopathic goodness for Hopkins, should it come calling. That kind of thing just doesn't happen- and if it did happen in the last three years, I'm pretty sure I would have heard a rumor or two about it.

(And if I managed to miss something like that... wow. Possible, though. I do tend toward the oblivious.)

The year before I applied, I believe that they ended up accepting about 120 or so for a class of 70- or 80-something. Probably about the same for my year. I believe that they increased the class size after my year, also. Plenty of people came off the alternate list, including one person who got the magic call on the first day of orientation. You have a decent shot, so good luck!

Bests,
Paige
