Hey, I have a few questions for any UNC students out there if you dont mind answering.

Should I buy the Netter's atlas of human anatomy and the tooth carving manual by linek (they are the only required hardcopy textbooks)? If so, does anyone have a copy that they want to sell?

What should I wear to class/ labs? Are jeans/sandals ok?

Also, were you all able to get your loans processed in time before tuition was due. Tuition is due on Aug 5th but I still havent gotten a financial aid package yet so I dont know if they are expecting me to cover this with my own money until the loans come in, or if the loans will cover it straight. Are there any payment plans for dental school?

Thanks everyone.. i look forward to seeing you all next month. 🙂

If you look at the back of the tuition bill, there is aplace to sign in where it says you want to defer paying it because you will be paying by loans. Just sign it and mail it in or take it in by hand to the cashier's office. You will be required to have the tooth carving manual, and netter is optional although I highly recommend it. I would just wait until you get here. You will get a big borther or sister who can tell you all this stuff and you may be able to buy the books off of them.

I agree with Adam on this, buy both books.
About the sandals and jeans, I would recommend against it. You are not going to get outright yelled at for wearing them (except in clinic) but at least on the first day or so you should wear nice clothes. They will explain to you within those first couple of days about the "requested attire". Not a big deal, they just like the students to look professional, but like I said they won't get too upset about it either way.

I wore khakis and a nice shirt the first day, but after that i wore jeans or shorts every day. I still wear shorts to school this summer except for when I am in clinic. Then i wear scrubs.
