My chairman recommended it to my as an "upper middle tier" program. He said that he thought it was getting stronger rather than weaker. Everyone I have talked to says good things about it.

I agree, UNC is one of those programs that you don't hear about much, but whenever you do it is always positive things. I think it may be due to the fact that most people automatically first think of Duke when they think about surgery programs in North Carolina.

Actually, Wake Forest is probably the second most prominent program in the state & has a better reputation as a training program than any of the programs including DUKE.
