I'll be new to Chapel Hill this Fall and my wife and I are looking to buy a House (not townhome), but after looking online, the prices are a little higher than we want to spend. I was wondering if anyone else has bought a house in another neighboring town or would recommend a neighborhood to look at or avoid? Thanks in advance!!!

No dangerous places to avoid in chapel hill. Durham has some rough areas I have heard. Durham also has some reasonably affordable housing...check out pittsboro as well.

I was wondering the same thing! My husband and I drove to Chapel Hill and looked around and prices are outrageous compared to Durham and Raleigh. I did hear that houses in the Jordan school district in Durham are generally in a good area.

👍👍 good post... my fiance and i were wondering the same thing.

i'm thinking, though, that the safer thing to do is to rent for 6-12 mos and get a feel for the area before making such a significant investment.
