Hey guys, got a few questions. My uncle did his undergrad over seas and wants to apply to D schools. He is a pharmacist right now, had to take a few tests I believe to be able to work here in the US. My question is, do any classes have to be taken here as far as prerequisites are concerned if they were already completed overseas? Is there some sort of foreign exam or is it just the DAT? Any answers would be appreciated, thank you all.

dont know the answer to ur question..but why does he want to go from practicing pharmacy to practicing dentistry...he doesnt like it anymore or he doesnt like the lifestyle( money, hours..etc.._

There are pros and cons to every profession, but recently wants to gain information on possibly doing something else. Standing for 8 hours a day takes a toll on the back and everyday is same. My uncle is young so he's looking for other things.

Anyone??

I think it's great that you uncle wants to pursue dentistry. I can't think of many careers that is harder on your back than dentistry though, you're hunched over all day 🙁

True haha

Anyone have an answer? Do you think I should write this in the international thread?

For what it's worth, I know a dentist who started out as a pharmacist. He said it wasn't too bad because the first two years were a breeze for him thanks to pharmacy school and also he got to have a pretty sweet part time job during dental school as a pharmacist.

He'd have to go to community college/ university, see if some of his classes/credits can be transferred (like chemistry etc), go on and finish rest of the pre reqs like math, psychology?, physics? english (this may be tricky since he'd probably have to do TOEFL- Test of English as Foreign Language, too.
Then go the DAT route.
