None: I submitted 9/17 and just saw the red x's tonight (10/4). Those sure do look cool.
Perhaps AMCAS is finally pulling it together?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not an dingus or a cut-throater. In fact, I took every opportunity to help classmates. With that said, HOW IN THE HELL IS THAT FAIR: I SUBMITTED NINE FRIGGIN' WEEKS BEFORE NONE AND I'M STILL YET TO GET LITTLE RED Xs. THAT IS AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE. I BUSTED MY ASS TO COMPLETE THAT FRIGGIN' APPLICATION FOR MANY HOURS FROM 1AM TO 4am for weeks , AND SOMEONE WHO SUBMITS 9 WEEKS AFTER ME IS AHEAD OF ME?!

I'VE CALLED AMCAS AND THEY HAVE BOTH MY PAYMENT AND TRANSCRIPT SO NOTHING ON MY PART IS HOLDING UP MY APPLICATION.

ANYONE HEARD OF ROLLING ADMISSIONS? WE'RE GETTING SCREWED ROYALLY!

Easy there Tiger. It sucks, we all know.

I want to make sure you're not confusing red X's with blue X's. My application is NOT done being verified. It has just started. I have red X's over Transcript Requests, Coursework, and Schools Attended. I do NOT have blue X's or /'s next to my actual coursework yet, nor do I have a date processed at the top of my app.

I'm having the same problem that "none" has. I've had the red xs for 2 weeks now, and still no processed date. I called AMCAS. They said wait another week, then call back. Grrrrrrr.

I submitted June 26th. I have absolutely no Xs.

I didnt get the red X's until after the blue X's and the date processed was listed in the AMCAS printout.

guys i am telling you; u have to start calling the freakin amcas office like crazy.. talk to them politely; they'll put you on prioty list if ur app was submitted in june or july...

Woah, there are different colors for the X's?? What a concept!

I honestly don't think it has to do with how often you call or how politely you talk to them. My picture of the AMCAS headquarters is of a large warehouse with one or two Commedore 64s (I always wondered where they went) and piles of paper everywhere. Not neatly stacked or anything, just fluttering around. A typical day begins when the three "specialists" arrive. Immediately one goes to lunch and the other two saunter over to whatever piece of paper happens to be nearest to them. That's what gets verified on this particular day. I suspect that sometime in June or early July they ran out of toilet paper in the bathroom.

I just got back from interviewing at my state school. Of the ten people interviewing today, I had submitted my AMCAS application the earliest (7/7), yet I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO HAD NOT BEEN PROCESSED.

What does this mean? While everyone else's file is off to the admissions committee for a decision (they said about a month for them), my application will NOT be forwarded to the committee until AMCAS processes my app!!!

This is not fair. The admissions director swore to me that it wouldn't affect my chances, but the school is on rolling admissions! How coud it NOT affect my chances??

Sorry, but we are no longer "all in the same boat." Some of us are on a delux cruise to admissions, while the rest of us are on the TITANIC...doomed.

None: don't take it personally. There are many other people that submitted in august and have already been verified, so I'm pissed at AMCAS and not you guys. Though you only have red Xs, that means they are in the process of or are about to start verifying your application.

sure, we can call and they'll put us on "priority", but I'll believe it when I see it.

Though not all schools, some schools are staying put until they get verified applications in order to send secondaries, while other schools did send out secondaries but are nonetheless waiting for verified applications to began review. It then follows that, August submitters, verified before June and July submitters will have an advantage thanks in part to rolling admissions. I dont' think I'm being unreasonable or *****ic.

It seems to me that adcoms that make it a point to wait for verified apps would take this into consideration, given the fact that they know applicants should NOT be penalized for something beyond their control. Is it realistic to assume that special consideration would be given to those unverified applicants, particularly those that have been interviewed? They know when they extend the offer for the interview that the app is unverified, yes? Couple this with the timing of the application, june or July. What would make sense in this situation is to offer an acceptance contingent upon receipt of the verified app on or before the cycle deadline, which is next year for most schools, right?

Bruin4Life, I was also one of those early submitters (June 24) that did not get verified till October 2. This happened a few days after I had called them and demanded that I be verified. They put me on the priority list and lo and behold after that weekend I had the button and the X's. The next day I was verified. So call, it DOES make a difference.

I agree with Bruin - nothing about this is fair. We should all recognize that. I wish everyone well - and I'm happy for those who have been luck enought to emerge from the AMCAS mess verfiied. I just hope that the schools who use rolling admissions recognize what is going on. I personally think all schools should do away with rolling admissions anyway, but that's just me...

No, I TOTALLY agree. Rolling admissions is a very silly idea. It may reduce the workload on an adcom slightly, but so would simply having an early universal deadline.

Amen!

Yikes...I'm feeling lucky right now, after reading all your stories...I worked really hard to get my AMCAS app in early and finally did it on June 27, in the wee hours of the morning...miraculously, I was processed on August 7 and received the Verification e-mail on August 27.

However, I have a question...my application printout says that my application has been "transmitted" to all but one of my designated med schools. Does anyone know what factors govern when the schools actually receive our AMCAS applications? My schools apparently started "receiving" my AMCAS app as early as July 20 -- yet, how is that even possible if my application wasn't even processed until 8/7??

Any insight into the mysteries of the AMCAS application would be much appreciated...

Those dates just mean that AMCAS notified those schools that you're applying to and gave them VERY preliminary info -- like name address, e-mail and state residency. Now as to why one school has no date -- well, I called and asked since several of mine had no dates. The "specialist" told me that it didn't make any difference if there was no date for some schools, the info was sent to all the schools. Don't ask. It's just the normal AMCAS way of doing things.

Oh, and welcome to SDN. :) I'm happy for you :D but furious with AMCAS for this out-of-order processing
Ten weeks and counting with no red X's for me :(

Can you believe this (from another thread)?

I submitted on 9/26.... and today [10/6] I saw RED X's when I looked at my application. I can't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I can't believe it either!! I'm definitely getting a lawyer (that would be my Dad) to write a letter tomorrow!

SMW, u have a lawyer at home.. u should have gotten the letter thing over with a long time ago.. good luck!.. hope ur app gets processed soon.

AMCAS really sucks... ARGGGGH!!!
