Just checked out the unfilled EM programs....I will a bit confused about some of them..

Did Duke rank anyone?
What happened to Cook County?
Suny Downstate???? Umass??? MT. Sinai??

Any ideas?

Detroit Receiving and WashU as well... these seemed to me to be very strong programs. I guess it's location? Sad to me that they didn't fill. I was impressed by both programs during the interview trail.

Note to all of you third-years: Copy this list and file it away until it's time to begin investigating residencies next year. Just because a program didn't fill doesn't mean that it's a bad program, but you should at least try and find out why it didn't fill during the interview season. Most program directors are very up front about not filling the previous year and willing to discuss why, but some aren't. Just .02 worth of advice from someone in the most painful 46 hours of his life.

Is it possible some of these spots could have been filled outside of the match, ie via signed contracts? It's very hard to believe that Duke didn't match anyone, as echoed from another thread.
