I would suggest only taking the MCAT once, and doing as well as possible. If that means pushing it back, then I'd say do it. I was supposed to be taking it in September, too, but I've been full time classes all summer and full time work, so no time to study.
You are in a tough spot because you definitely need to get your GPA up, too. I still say wait on the MCAT if you're sure more studying will help you. If you don't get into an SMP first time around, you can always take the year in between and work on your EC's like crazy.
