I interviewed there on feb 6th. How long do they take to get back to you?
I really loved the school but my interview with the surgeon was horrible. The surgeon told me that my stats(27Q, 3.83) were bad and I will never get in!He truly made me cry!!!!!!!!!
If you have heard fromm them please post. Also, can you guys who were accepted post your stats as well.

I got in after three weeks and a day, but someone recently (ValleyGal, maybe?) was accepted five months after her interview. I think it's a little early to start freaking out. I know someone last year who got in on a 27 MCAT (don't know her GPA).

Sorry your interview went badly. Good luck!

At least you guys heard...I am still waiting for a secondary.... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

They took 5 months to get back to me with an acceptance. My stats were, as an in-stater, above a 3.7 for both science and regular GPA and a 36 on the MCAT. I really thought that I wasn't going to get in because it took them so long. I wouldn't take anything based on numbers because Maryland seems to be a school that looks past the numbers a bit. Good luck though -- it never hurts to write letters to Foxwell as I am sure interest in the school can only help your cause.

My prolem is that my file has been with the committee for the last three weeks. So, writing a letter is virtually futile.
I think that surgeon interview will definitely take me down. Anyhow, thanks for posting guys.

I haven't heard from them...I intervied on Jan. 28. They are at the moment my top choice and I am anxious to hear something. I am not a Maryland resident, which makes me worry a bit, but my interviewer told me that once you are offered an interview, you are on the same field as everyone else. I hope that this is true ::crosses fingers::

Sure, click on the "Edit Post" button for the message you want to delete (looks like a pencil and sheet of paper). On the page it takes you to, click "Delete Post", then click the "Edit Post" button. I'm doing this by memory, so I hope I quoted everything right.

Hey,

I think the shortest time before an acceptance is three weeks, and the longest time can stretch for months (I am nearing the half-year mark since my interview!) But I do think that is the exception and hope that you hear some good news soon :)

i interviewed 2-11-02 and my aceptance letter was dated 3-6-02. (california resident, 33Q, 3.94 sci, 3.81 cum) good luck

I never got an interview, but I got a call from my parents telling me that they received a rejection letter! Apparently, UofMD sent the letter to my secondary address... so you guys might wanna check the other mailing address on your AMCAS (if you have one)...

good luck to those still waiting!

I only have 1 address! I think they are just screwing around with me.

U Maryland 2nd year over here. Just wanted to say congrats to those people who have been accepted already and good luck to those people still waiting. Writing to Dr. Foxwell is a good idea if you are still waiting and want to come to this school. PM me if you have any questions about the school and I will try my best to answer them. :)

I just got my rejection letter from the school today. I interviewed on the 30th of Jan. One of my interviewer told me that I will definitely get in. This sucks! I am instate too.

Don't give up, j2001! I really do think they try to look past numbers, since mine are pretty close to yours and I got an acceptance letter less than 2 weeks after my interview. They told me that the timing of their response really depends on when your interview falls as compared to when the committee meets. (I also had my shortest interview ever there...less than 15 minutes...and they weren't the most encouraging 15 minutes either) Good luck!!!

just got rejected today. good luck to all

I'm sorry to hear that...good luck with your other schools. And remember, even if you end up on some waitlists, it can still happen! I have friends who got pulled off of lists well into July last year. Don't let one jerk make you feel bad about your stats. You're more than your MCAT score. (which is NOT bad, anyway! :)

Thanks for the encouragement labangel

the screwing has ended in rejection.

I was really disgusted by U Maryland Ad Com, and I think their admissions committee is highly inefficient and random, I have a way above average stat and lived in Maryland for 4 years, and they won't even dignify me with a secondary application. I was interviewed at JHU, GW, GT, Yale, Emory, Vandy, and I never heard a peep from U Maryland, and the sad part is U Maryland was one the schoold I really want to go because it is so close to my residence, and last week I received my rejection. Well, thank you U Maryland, but I going to somewhere way above your ranking for med school! Well, U Maryland will forever remain as "the OTHER medical school in Baltimore."

That's funny, because I now think of Hopkins as the "other" med school in Baltimore. :) I got in to Maryland and Duke, and didn't even get an interview at Hopkins. I guess they can't interview everybody, but it's still annoying. All the same--and this is not just sour grapes--I was always leaning towards Maryland anyway.
