I'm accepted to the UT HSC Dental program, but i'm a Mississippi resident.

I live in an adjacent county and 1500 feet across the border, but i'm still a mississippi resident. Would it be possible to move to TN and aquire instate tuition after the first year by getting TN license, insurance, apartment, etc ...

It's a difference of 30k for out of state and 12k instate, so it's worth it for me to try ...

hi
that's a good idea!!BUT,my school(NOVA)doesnt allow that once u join!!!
the rule is that if u join as out of state student u have to continue the same status till the end!!u can talk to the school management abt it!!good luck!!

CJWolf,
I'm also starting UT this fall, and as far as I know, residency status stays the same as it was at the time of acceptance. However, since you are SO close to TN, I would think that it would at least be worth a try to get the in state tuition. The school might tell you no as of now, but you can always try anyway. I know some students goint to UK who were out of state students, and although the school's policy says that no one can change their residency status, many have gotten around that rule by simply writing some kind of letter explaining their situation after a year of living in KY. Perhaps you could do that at UT. I know I would definitely try if I were you! 🙂 Good luck!
