I know that they exhaust the ranked list, and anyone on that list is pretty much guaranteed to enter that fall. So, my guess is that they predict everyone will get off the ranked because they have always gone to the unranked list. Still, I think it is pretty minimal. The only person I know that got in off the unranked did not get accepted until almost the week before. At least we will all know where we stand soon! :luck: :luck: :luck:

just so everyone knows, they won't have decisions finalized till 10:00 this morning.

The adcom is meeting and still making decisions this morning? Interesting. Talk about the 11th hour.

My application status still hasn't changed as of 10:03. If anyone gets them to tell you something over the phone, please post!

It just changed over for me - I guess I'm going to try to call now!
 
Well, here's an odd story:

I just called and was told "sorry, we sent you a rejection letter in February. Did you not receive it?"

My application status on the website has read (and still reads) "Your application is complete." I never received a letter, and was told a couple of times over the phone since the date they say the sent the rejection letter that I was still in the pool, waiting to be reviewed.

I am really frustrated, and I can't help wondering why things are so fishy with my app...

mine still hasn't changed! those who have called, what's the news? I fear that they will first change the status for people who have good news waiting, and then the rest will come later. That's how they do it for many schools, good news first, bad news later. =(

i'm SO sorry to hear that. I didn't know they took people out of the pool to be rejected!!! That is horrible. I wonder how many people will experience the same thing. Mine still has not changed.

#16 ranked list, more waiting but from what I've heard I have a shot.

Congratulations to those accepted as well. Mine hasn't changed yet, and I also suspect they are doing those who got accepted first. Aspiringdoctor, have you called yet. If you haven't, good luck, I know it's nerve racking! :luck:

I got in! Finally. Congrats to everyone who got in or got onto the various lists! If you didn't get in, I know it sucks. Just keep at it. This was my third year applying, third interview, etc. Persistence can pay off, though that's no doubt small comfort right now. Good luck, all.
 
I got on the unranked list. I think everyone on the ranked list eventually get in. Anyone else on the unranked list? I was told to contact stella Yee to set up an appt with Dr. Samson in May. I am thinking that I will just withdraw, I could not find out how many people were on the unranked list, so it could be a lot, for all i know.

congrats to everyone who got in (and will get in). It looks like I will have to wait until residency to come back to the NW.

I got accepted nearly a month ago, but I still didn't want to leave this thread and hope all of us SDNers will get in, so we can go to seattle together. I'm sorry ahumdinger and others SDNer's, who are on unranked list or decide to withdraw. I Wish you the best regardless of where you will go to school
 
what a rollercoaster of a day. bad news from UW this morning, but i got in at my top choice just ten minutes later! i could use a change of scenery after five years, that's for sure. congrats everyone and good luck.
 
I called the office and was directed to the admissions person, but she didn't pick up and I had to leave a message to have her call me back....
Ahhh, I can't take the suspense!!!
 
OMG!!! They let me in!!! I am so thankful right now. Can't believe it.

ahumdinger, if UW's your number one choice, don't give up yet! During the interview day, Pat Fero mentioned that Dr. Samson personally picks from the unranked list; so in a way, it doesn't really matter how many others are on the list. She said that meeting with Dr. Samson is "highly encouraged" for students on that unranked list. So, if it's at all feasible for you, this would be a good opportunity to reiterate your enthusiasm for UW and highlight the strong points of your app. Good luck!!

BTW, congrats to those who received good news today! Time to subscribe to the c/o 2010 thread. 🙂
 
Denied!! Got kicked to the curb this morning. Not even a waitlist.

I was also denied this morning. 😡 It's a bittersweet rejection because, although it was harsh to be rejected from UW, and I am enjoying living in Seattle, I do miss the east coast, and ever since I went to my interview at UVA, it has been my top choice school. So, it looks like I am going to UVA in the fall!

Congratulations to everyone who got into UW, and good luck to all who are on the waitlist! I am so happy for all of you! 😍 😛 😀

Sorry to hear that you're on the unranked list. I'm a current UW student (MS1) and a classmate was on the unranked list and got in - so it DOES happen. I would definitely schedule that appointment with Dr. Samson. I have heard that he handpicks applicants off the unranked list and people who did the outgoing interviews thought it was really helpful - plus Dr. Samson is supposedly really nice and the meeting is laidback, which is much different than his persona during interviews (again, all hearsay).

I was on the ranked list last year and called in about my chances of getting in. Though the numbers of both waitlists are rumored to an institution secret, the admissions person I spoke to last year said that there are ~25 people on the ranked list and ~50 on the unranked list. She said that in the past 5 years, everyone from the ranked list has gotten in and they've gone into the unranked list.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting. And congrats to all of you who are in!

50 people! that is great news if it's true! I would love to meet with Dr. Samson, but I am going to be out of the country from may 18 to june 4. Do you think a meeting in june is possible? I hear that the unranked list does not have any movement until pretty late.
