Hello...

I am not sure if this question has been addressed already, but I am posting because I could not find any clear answer....

For someone who is trying to apply for a competitve IM fellowship, would it make any difference if an applicant went through a univ affiliated residency pgm rather than a univ resid pgm? Any opinion from members who already went through the process? Thank you!

All other things being equal (which they almost never are), unless you're talking about Hopkins-Bayview, a Uni program will give you better fellowship options down the road that a community program. There are of course exceptions to this rule, but it's a good place to start.

Thank u for the advice! I guess it is always hard to predict the future but it sounds like univ pgms will put the applicant in better position than being in comm hosp pgm when applying for the fellowship.
