Just wondering if anyone has been accepted by the University of Arizona yet? If so, what day did you receive the notification?
ASU_Devil said:NO. No one has been accepted yet. I believe the first round of acceptances will be sent the first week of Feb. I have started a 2010 official UoA thread. So lets all stay on that, as it will keep everything organized. Good luck to all.

omgwtfbbq? said:So, out of all of us trolling around SDN ONE person got in? What'd they accept today, five? *raises and eyebrow* i hear that in the past they send the e-mails out in batches. so where is everybody else?
i didn't get one either, so i guess its back to waiting. strange.
From what I understood is that they are sending out 1/3 of the total seat acceptances today. So probably around 35-38 ppl will find out todayScarlett27 said:That's what I'm wondering. I mean, how many do they send out and are they really all in one batch at one time? Has anyone called the admissions office and asked? I tried calling, but I always get their voicemail.
omgwtfbbq? said:goodergirl, what were your stats like ? to give the rest of us an idea where we're standing in this list. congratulations, btw 🙂
Chachi25 said:Anyone know if the Feb and March acceptances will be via email or regular mail??
It is really hard to wait this long for acceptance, especially if UofA is your first and only choice.desertdr said:Am I the only one who feels like the whole U of A process is an emotional roller coaster?! Geez U of A, just send out all the acceptances at once!
I hope I don't have to wait for that 3rd batch in March with the final acceptances and waitlist! Just reject me already so that I can make preparations to move to NYC! 🙄
Scarlett27 said:I just called the admissions office. Apparently the emails have already been sent out. Not sure what time though, I didn't ask. There has to be someone on here who received one.
Anyone?
omgwtfbbq? said:I got in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG WTF BBQ!!! *passes out*

IMHO, I think it has an awful lot to do with who you interview with; the quality of their report; who writes your LORs; and the quality of the letters.
Of course, GPA and MCAT have to be there, but low scores don't necessarily preclude you from being in early waves because there is so much weight given to the big picture of your application.
Worse, there is no way to figure that out either, because it depends upon who is on your admissions subcommittee; how they perceive you as a "whole applicant"; and how they present you at the final adcom meeting.
Overall, with all the basics covered (GPA, MCAT, LORs, ECs, work experience, etc), I personally believe there is a decent amount of luck involved in the admissions process at the U of A.
***Disclaimer***The previous statement in no way, whatsoever, takes anything, at all, away from, or otherwise diminishes or downplays, the hard work, dedication and top results of those who are admitted, and the order in which their offer comes.
Example: if you end up with even 1 very well-respected admissions subcommittee member who pushes hard for you at the subcommittee level, and even harder at the final adcom meeting, you could very well end up near the top of the list. Just as easily...with someone a little less respected and a little less passionate about you as an applicant...you could end up near the middle or tail-end of the pack. This whole scenario can play-out with LORs and interviews as well.
Sigh...go figure.
