OMG ... ****! I didn't know that we had to fill out the fafsa by march 1st even if we are on the wait list... i just submitted mine tonight, does that mean i wont get any grants or scholarship???????

well, i wasnt even waitlisted til after that so... i'm sure youre fine. then again, maybe they have different due dates for different interviews? i'd call.

Accept08, I also remained in the mid 1/3 when I called last week. I'm guessing u and I are probably at somewhere around the middle of the mid 1/3 where it's difficult to move up/down either way. Let's pray that UB would get to the mid 1/3 a lil quicker this cycle :luck::luck::luck:!
 
did everyone fill out a fafsa? just saw geff's post and now i'm getting nervous too. does anyone know if we're supposed to fill one out?
 
Hey, yea i contacted the SRC at UB, they said to fill one out as soon as possible to be eligible for certain financial aid. If you missed the deadline, dont worry too much about it, just get it in as soon as you can. :)

Hey everyone, I just checked my status page and I have been accepted. Good luck to everyone else still waiting.

FYI, I received the backround check email at around 11:30 pm last night and my status changed this morning.

OMG, I've been accepted too!!! I havent received the background check email but my status has changed to "accepted!" and today is my graduation!!! I am soooo excited!!! good luck to everyone else still waiting to hear back! Seems like the waitlist is moving pretty fast this year! Hang in there! :D

This is my first acceptance so I am planning on attending. I am waitlisted at a few other schools including Downstate. If I get into Downstate it would be a tough decision...
 
Hey afsd, i am also waiting for Downstate, its been 12 weeks and not a word.. however my status page did change and is asking for white coat form, immunization record, and tuition deposit... so i am thinking that it may be an acceptance... for me, I will be attending UB 100% because i've grown to love the campus (I dont think there is a campus life at Downstate), but of course, Downstate has a reputation for great clinical experience. Ultimately, I thnk its really up to ur personal preference... from what ive heard, youll get pretty much the same thing out of downstate and buffalo in terms of the medical education. But congrats to you! Go celebrate!!!!

Only two out of 13 people are left in the top 1/3, as of today.
BTW, Has anybody been upgraded from middle 1/3 to top 1/3?
If not, the acceptances from mid 1/3 should begin soon.
 
Waitlist ranks are apparently officially finalized. I hadn't called since Feb when I was put on Mid 1/3, but now I'm on upper, thanks to all of you guys who got accepted off the upper already, making way for the rest of us!!! I'm hopeful.

That's great news. I saw that you have already been accepted at Rochester and are on a couple WLs. Would you pick UB over Rochester and the other schools?

I had been waiting and waiting for news from Stony Brook and today I was accepted. THis morning I would have told you I'd pick UB over Rochester, but now I am withdrawing from both. I wish all the other WLed UB applicants the best of luck!
 
I was accepted off of the WL on May 6th... err, that is when the letter was dated... my parents just got it today. I also withdrew. Good luck everyone still waiting!

I had interview in late Feb. and was initially placed in the middle third of the wait list. I e-mailed mr. rosso on may 6th and got the response,

[applicant's name],

You are officially in the "upper third" of our wait list. Last year, 100% of those candidates were eventually accepted to Buffalo. Best wishes.

I don't think that is possible since not all of those who were in the upper third since the beginning were accepted yet (for example, me)

OMG... I just checked my status this morning and it's been changed to Accepted!!!!!!! Yay!! I'm so excited... this process is finally over and i'm going to be a doctor!! Good luck to all in the WL! :love:

I just called admissions office now because I started wondering if the admissions office may made a mistake about my status (bumping up from the middle 1/3 to the upper 1/3). I am still in the upper third. yay.

Mr. Rosso also says that the school has seen a historically large turnover number in the past few weeks (especially considering this is before May 15th). I guess this is a good news for everyone!

I was just saying that I think it was unlikely that DoctoraLatina was in the middle third and then bumped up and accepted, since there are still people who were never in the middle third, but were placed in the upper third to begin with. And not all of those people originally in the upper third were all accepted yet. I think it follows logically that those who were in the upper third from the beginning will get accepted before those who were bumped from middle to upper.

Just a thought, sorry to confuse

from her post I think doctorlatina withdrew from the UB waitlist after she got acceptance at stonybrook.

anyways... it seems like you are the next one to go. :luck: I hope you will hear back soon.
 
Dreaming on...Come, May 15, and the cycle of withdrawals gets catalyzed. And soon the WL movement will dig into mid 1/3.

No, this is entirely possible if ppl who got bumped from mid to upper had moved up before the WL movement even began. And like you said, it probably doesn't make any sense that ppl got moved up as the WL's moving.
 
I recently got accepted off wl, but am also accepted to Stony brook. any idea how to make a decision as the days are creeping up, yet I am not a bit closer to a decision...

I think all of us who are still on the UB waitlist will agree that you should go to Stony Brook. In all seriousness, congrats on getting accepted to two med schools, that is quite the achievement. Just pick the school that will prepare you better for where you want to go in life. (I just hope it is SB ;))

i dont think ppl should make a decision between schools based solely on the ranking... i believe the ones cited above are outdated... this is from 2009 US RANKING http://grad-schools.usnews.rankings.../top-medical-schools/research-rankings/page+3 Both schools are ranked very closely to one another with stonybrook only marginally above UB. Stony has a research score of 42, UB has a research score of 41.... but again, i dont think people should focus too much on this in making their decision. I'm sure there are factors such as ur family, the curriculum, the school environment etc. to consider. I hope this helps. Good luck!
 
Mr. Rosso said this year the waitlist is moving quite fast. Im sure middle thirds will be getting off the waitlist pretty soon, hang in there guys! :luck:
 
well I don't know if you guys know this yet, (well I didn't know)
I asked mr. rosso some questions regarding the waitlist process and he said,

for those who are accepted after may 15th, you have one week to make a decision on whether to accept the acceptance.

however starting mid june, you will receive phone calls for acceptances and will be given less than 24 hours to accept the acceptance.

:luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck: ...I know the waitlist didn't advance into the middle third until june 10th last year...but somehow I have this strong feeling that it will be much earlier this year...I am getting very antsy!
