Good news - just spoke to Rosso and he said as of about an hour ago, the entire upper 1/3 has been offered an acceptance and they have moved into the middle 1/3 of the waitlist. He says this is the earliest this has happened and would estimate the odds of getting in off mid1/3 at 60% now.

Hey guys, I checked my status page this morning and found out I've been accepted! I'm definitely attending as UB is my first choice. I was on the middle 1/3 as of May 4th so hopefully the rest of you on the middle 1/3 will be hearing something soon. Good luck everyone!

Any body called Mr. Rosso lately? How is the WL movement since dipping into middle 1/3 on 5/19?

Does Mr. Rosso blog daily WL movement summary and update?:)

I called this morning and talked to someone else in the office and she said much of the same that was posted earlier. That Mr. Rosso was very surprised that it was moving this fast, that they did get into the Middle 1/3 yesterday and that if the pace stays near this level, they foresaw getting through much of the middle. No concrete answers, however.

I also asked about the ranking system and if they proceed through the waitlist as it is numbered, or if they look at the next handful and take whomever fits the profile of student that they need (male, female, URM) etc. She stated that they do move according the ranking, and I jokingly asked if there was a way to find out what 1/3 of the 1/3 we are in and she said sorry, no!!

Thanx for the great info, dodgerblue :thumbup:! Maybe us mid 1/3ders should have designated caller for everyday of the week so that we'd be able to get some idea each day :D.

haha thats actually not a bad idea... it would help your guys' anxiety... before I got in, the ONLY reason i didn't call every day was because I didnt want to risk making them mad.
 
That's probably not a terrible idea. I'm also wondering if any of the middle 1/3ers that posted their names on this forum have withdrawn or if they are just being silent observers.
 
Some numbers I dug up from a poster in past yrs' threads, could possibly be used as a ref for this cycle's time frame :),

"From sdn info-2004,2005,2006 waitlist :
by 5/28 they start to take from top middle third
by 6/21 they in the middle middle third
by 7/19 they on the bottom middle third
and after 7/24very very slow"

Thats somewhat encouraging.... I sure hope that they get through the whole middle 1/3 this year! I think having a designated caller everyday would be cool. I can do a day if we want to organize it :) C'mon waitlist go!

Daily question for Mr. Rosso: What % of the middle 1/3rd has been accepted ? Try to get a specific number such as 10% or 20% or one-third. Caution: Actual number of acceptances from the middle 1/3rd (e.g., 8 people from middle one third got acceptances) alone will not help us much, as UB never reveals the size of the middle 1/3rd group.

Optional One-time question for Mr. Rosso: What % of the middle 1/3rd were originally designated to bottom 1/3rd? A quantified answer (e.g., bottom 20% of the middle 1/3rd were originally classified as bottom 1/3rd and later promoted to middle 1/3rd) to this question will help partition the middle 1/3rd into two ordered groups. The original 1/3rd will get acceptances first, and then the promoted-to-middle 1/3rd will follow. Such answer will sharpen predictions of our acceptance chance.

Last I checked, I'm still wl'ed in the bottom third. This was two weeks ago so my status shouldn't have much bearing on that of the middle thirder's :(

Alright guys, I just called, and Mr. Rosso said that they can't tell us what percentage of the middle 1/3 has been accepted thus far. He still quoted the same 60% chance for middle 1/3ers, but he did say that today there has been absolutely no turnover so far... so hopefully it hasn't stopped/slowed down!

I can't speak for Mr. Rosso, but I do know that from my experience at UCLA the admissions people there do read these forums because one of the admissions people made continual references regarding statements made in the forums and admitted to reading them from time to time.

I bet at most ~1% of mid 1/3ders have been offered acceptance thus far (although the admiss wouldn't reveal anything) since UB just moved into mid 1/3.
BTW, medstar, would u mind to be the caller for Thursdays ;)?
 
if any of you acceptees are planning to attend UB need a roommate (and don't mind it being a third year) send me a private message for details...

and to those still on the waitlist DON'T give up hope as a friend of mine got accepted to UB well into June from the bottom third of the waitlist.;)

I am hoping that at least two persons will be accepted from our "Still Active" list this week...assuming a decent WL movement.
 
Was there no movement at all today???? What happened? I hope there will be some movement tomorrow!!!!

I am disappointed that no acceptances are reported from our "Still Active" list since 5/21.

BTW, any info from Mr. Rosso about the WL movement this week?

Question for Mr. Rosso: Does UB have two Wait-lists: one for in-state and another for out-of-state?

I am becoming a pessimist, as one week passed without any acceptances from our Active Waitlist. The WL movement seems slow and does not reflect the past movement of pre-May 15.

Any thoughts?
 
Hey guys,

I got accepted this morning (I'm a fellow middle 1/3er)!!

I still haven't received any official e-mail from the school, but I got the Background Check emails from AMCAS which prompted me to check my application status on the Buff website, and my status has been changed to Accepted!

Pretty pumped, as I really liked the school...but have also been accepted elsewhere, so have some soul-searching to do. For those of you still waiting, I will make my decision as soon as possible...I promise. Hang in there, as the WL movement season is still VERY young. Sorry about the late post, no new news from the admissions office when I called this week, but Mr. Rosso still seemed very impressed that the waitlist had moved so quickly into the middle third-he said last year it was mid-end june before the middle-third was reached.

It takes about 7 weeks to navigate through the middle third. With the same rate of movement, this year - we should be on the bottom of the middle third by July second week. Right?


Question for Mr. Rosso: How would you characterize the level of WL movement since May 16 as compared to the previous years?

So I've been watching this thread for a while (sorry-i never post) and have been in middle third since late January. I just checked my status this morning and I'm accepted!!! can't believe it, still in shock. It's my first md acceptance...
