I wanted to know whether anyone has received an acceptance from any UC schools UCSF,UCLA,UCSD,UCDavis or UCI. Anyone received interviews from UCLA and UCDavis.

I interviewed at Davis. Others have gotten invites at UCLA, as you could see from the interviews thread.
Did Davis give you any idea of when they would inform you of the results.

UCLA doesn't start accepting until January. It's a long and painful wait, haha.

Er whoops, I forgot to log out my friend's name, my bad.

Anyway, what I meant to say was: UCSD was the only UC to start accepting. UCI starts Novemeber 1st, UCLA Jan 1st (I have my interview tomorrow! woohoo!), and I'm not sure about UCSF or UCD.

Hope this helps 🙂

Just had a UCSF interview today. The place is pure awesomeness. The interviews were really chill too. I don't suppose a letter of intent would do any good since it's everyones first choice will it? They interview about 500 and give acceptances to half. I was so stoked to hear this.

I got invited for a UCLA interview, but I mailed in the sheet for my available times and havn't heard anything back. How long did the rest of you wait before you got a response?

Got a UCSD interview, but they scheduled it on halloween, those evil bastards! Now I have to race back to LA to party with my friends that night.

how strongly rolling is UCSD? I requested an interview date around thanksgiving (to cut down on travel costs, I will be in SD anyway around that time), but when one of my friends got an acceptance YESTERDAY, I started thinking about moving my date up. any suggestions? should I wait on it?

also, UCLA has still yet to send me a secondary! what should I do?

for those that interviewed at UCDAVIS. i just got a secondary from them and was wondering if i really had to write 6000 characters essas or keep them brief? like what how many characters did you guys wrire'? thanks

No, they do not expect you to write 6,000 characters. The admissions director didn't even know the limit was that high when we asked about it at the interview. Write whatever you feel is appropriate, but don't fill space just for the sake of it. My answers were mostly around 2,000 chars, but some were shorter.

I have an interview scheduled at UCSF in early November. Tell me how does a closed file interview work. How long was yours and how many people intrviewed you.

you might have already qualified for the ucla secondary...check their admissions status page.

I recieved a rejection from Drew today through snail mail. It's actually kind of a relief; I never realized how craptacular that program was when I first applied 😉

completed 9/15 received interview 10/11

I too am interviewing early Nov (Nov. 7), and what I have been told from the closed interviews is that they know only your name...and the most frequent question asked first is tell me about yourself (which i personally hate). Other than that, I am not sure...for anybody else interviweing on this day, where are you staying? Just curious

Finally my status at UCI changed from pending review to "review in process"!! thank goodness, i've been complete since 8/24 i think so im praying for good news soon!! come onnnnnnnn interview invite! (*please*)omg ahhh I REALLY REALLY want one!

A question for those with interviews at UCLA. I was justs checking out my status page, and it says they "received my transcript on Oct 21. I have never sent them a transcript. And myinterview slot is still blank???

That's quite strange. They only ask for your transcript if they want to interview you (both the status of transcript and interview will change to "requested"). I'd call them up on Monday and clarify with them what happened, just to be safe.

after reading this, i checked my status at UCLA. it said requested transcript Oct 20th. Are we suppose to send our transcripts in straight from our school? I know UCLA doesn't notify students of their status through email--they have said before they only give notifcations through mail and that usually takes 5 days. But for those we already went through this, a heads up would be nice.

ok NM above. I read it wrong. It wasn't a request for transcript. It was for an interview.

YAY!!

when you were complete? I was complete 09/01/05.. still pending review

I have been complete since 8/16 and still am on pending review...not sure what to think of it. I'm just getting a bit worried since UCI is definitely my dream school. Anyone know if they review applications in order received? Any input or comment would be greatly appreciated thanks!

wow that is strange. I was complete later than you... 9/12/05. My secondary was submitted since 07/28/05 though (LOR was lagging insanely for my file to be complete). maybe they go in order of secondary submission? no idea.

They probably have something against northern californians...

Or you just have great stats and they want to push you through to an interview!

Applicants like me are destined to wait until the very end and maybe LUCKILY get in off of a wait list or something.. by accident. =)

doubt it. i submitted mine 8/1 and i'm still pending review 🙁

doh doh doh, after reading this thread, i checked all my UC status that I didn't nkow yet. Nothing has changed on UCDavis or UCLA's but my UCI is bad news. put on hold for interview there. DAMN.

Two holds for interviews now from the UC's. BAD BAD BAD.

I was complete at UCLA on September 2nd, just got an interview today (Oct 24th)! So, no one worry, it took almost 2 months from complete to interview.

Still nothing from UCI. I'm actually hoping I stay pending review for a while, I want to be able to send them a meaningful update letter before I get put on hold.

lol... I just got put on hold at UCI, my #1 choice... ahhh... Not sure what to do!!

me too.. ON HOLD

now what makes me think I should send in my UCSF secondary? If I can't even get an interview at UCI?

Not feeling too good today........ 👎 👎

I had an interview with UCSF last week. I actually liked the closed file interview. I think it's harder for them to ask specific picky questions about your app. It's pretty laidback and more like having a conversation with someone you just met. They will ask you about your activities during/after undergrad, where you went to school, your major, why you want to be a doctor, questions about your family, and other things that just come up during the conversation. I think most people had two interviews, I had one with a student and one with a doctor. Overall it was a lot less stressfull than I thought it was going to be. And they also mentioned they start giving out their first round of acceptances Dec 15 and Jan 15, which is cool! Good luck :luck:

For all those wondering about UCI Im in the same boat. The very first piece of info I heard from any school was a hold from UCI. Then I got interviews at UCSF, UCSD, USC, and UCLA. No love from Davis either, or any school out of state. Hope this gives you guys some hope... 👍

SEND IN YOUR UCSF SECONDARY!! Turns out they are really big on the whole "Uniqueness" thing. They arn't as big on GPA and MCAT as you might think, but they really want a diverse application pool in terms of activities, interests, etc.

As for the closed interview, just practice with the "Tell me about yourself" question. Every school I've done with a closed interview asks it first thing. One thing that might help is kinda sprinkle a light bio about yourself, pointing out some interesting things here and there. Usually they will interupt you for more info if its interesting or ask you afterwards. Try to guage how the interviewer is receiving it.

On a side note about UCSF, the school is amazing, but the interviews are really chill as everyone says. The student that interviewed me blatanly said "Yea go ahead and tell me about yourself so I have some good stuff to write in your letter for the interview committee." One of my friends who used to work on the adcom committee for UCLA and Stanford told me that the key to those type of broad questions is just to stand out as much as possible. The interviewer probably has a dozen other interviews that week, and just saying I shadowed, did some research, got good grades isnt going to stand out later on when they go back to their sheet they took notes on and regurgitate it onto their rec letter.

Keep up the struggle 👍 👍

Hey Guys,

If you got into UC Davis, which OOS private school acceptance would it take to make you leave California? (I'm deciding UC Davis vs. University of Chicago).
