Has anyone out there been accepted to CU medical school straight out of undergraduate school ?

I just heard the strangest thing tonight...

I was talking with an individual who is looking at applying to CU. So, this person called the admissions office there to see what he could do to better himself as an applicant. He was then informed that CU never accepts applicants fresh out from college; they prefer about 2 years of post-graduate experience. 😕
This cannot possibly be true; or is it??

Of course when you look at the average age of first year matriculants at CU, it's about 26 years. Kind of high if you ask me.

Maybe there is some truth to all this.

Any thoughts???

There is no absolutes when it comes to getting accepted into med school. I think CU tends to favor older applicants, but that does not mean they don't take anyone who comes straight from undergrad. My friend's sister got in from CU Boulder with a MCDB degree and a very high GPA. I also know someone who worked at my lab that got into to CU straight from college, so it is possible. Don't worry, if you have the numbers, extracurriculars and present yourself in a mature manner, you will have very good chance.

UC does accept students straight from undergrad.

They have the reputation of liking older applicants, but in the past few years their average age of entering MS1s has decreased closer to the national average.
