University of Illinois - Chicago: Rockford or Peoria

So would you select Rockford or Peoria (after you ranked chicago and Urbana as first choices)? What are the advantages and disadvantages to each? I have to respond right away. I'm an out of stater. I want to keep my options open (in terms of specializing) but I also want to get the better education. thank you for your input

as far as the place itself goes, i've been to peoria (briefly drove from the interstate through the downtown area to get to a hospital) but have only driven through rockford on the interstate. i was pleasantly suprised by peoria, mostly for its scenic charm. but don't know anything about rockford. peoria is a small city, with a decent number of restaurants and a small but existent downtown. peoria had a somewhat hilly terrain (for IL) and a nice river running though it near downtown. there is a major hospital in the downtown area (possible rotation site?) which did not seem run-down at all from the inside. they have a steak-n-shake right on the river that i stopped at, and the folks there seemed nice enough.

I liked Rockford a lot. I had it as my first priority, but got Chicago instead... go figure. Most people complain about the peoria site being run-down, but I have not been there.
