I've heard loads of negative stuff about UIC. Anybody headed there in the fall? Any positive things about the school (except cost)?

i can tell you why i didn't chose UIC, Private message me

Hello,

I'm headed to UIC this fall and pretty happy with my choice.
From talking w/ current students/faculty, UIC seems to be a school committed to improvement. I think this stems from their new Dean. He was the Dean at Detroit-Mercy and is determined to make UIC a top 10 school in the next few years. If you have visited the dental facility recently, you will see that they already are remodeling their clinics and lecture halls. I also understand that they plan to tweak their cirriculum and allow 1st & 2nd yr. students to have more interactive with patients.

Mel, have you interviewed there yet, and if so, what were your thoughts?

Steiner....I'm interested on your thoughts too....thanks.
PM if you want to...

Mel and Juice: we are chating on SDN tonight at 9 chicago time. I will be there and will give you my 2 cents on UIC

steiner...

Unfortunately, I won't be around 2nite to participate. However, maybe you can copy the chat session and post the transcripts here 2morrow.

Just an idea. If not, can you give me an overview of your thoughts?

Thanks again

Steiner, I tried unsuccessfully to PM you. Would you mind dropping me an email at [email protected] and letting me know what's up with UIC? Thanks.

Don;t get me wrong. UIC is decent school. I really applaud Dr. Grahams mission to make UIC one of the top 10 schools in the country. I honestly believe that he can make it one of the best. But in the mean time I do not think UIC is up to par. Lets put it this way, right now I wouldn't got to UIC, in a few years I would (but I ain't waiting).

I wasn't too impressed by UIC's facilities. During my undergrad years at UIC worked across the street. While there for my interview I got a chance to view the same grafity in the mens rest room that has been there for 4 years. I know the state of Illinois too. And when the state says that in 2 years they are going to have a simulation lab, you can pretty much count on 6 years.

Sadly... Yes... I'm going to UIC next fall. For so many reasons why I don't want to go, but I'm still going for the cost. But it'll be nice to know someone else is going to UIC too!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
