    Hi everyone,
As the days pass, I am feeling more and more like I will be a reapplicant next year..... I was thinking about applying to UK next year, but after exhaustive research, I cannot find any statistics for previous classes other than what is on the PharmCAS website. Does anyone out there know the statistics of previous classes (avg GPA, PCAT, etc) or where I might be able to find a copy? I looked for previous threads, but I couldn't find anything. Thanks :)

    PCAT-86 composite
    GPA-3.6 cumulative

    This is from their webpage.

Thank you. The other schools that I looked at had statistics reports broken into a bunch of different categories. I was looking for something more like that if it is available on a consolidated form. I do appreciate your help!

I'm not sure that this is applicable to you or not, but realize that as an out of state student you'll be at a severe disadvantage. The last time I looked (April/May 06) Kentucky only filled 10% of their class from out of state.

If you are truly interested in Kentucky, reach out and meet with the people at the school.

Thank you...I am at a disadvantage across the board because my husband is in the Army. The residency rules are wiaved if you (or family) are in the state on active duty orders. So, basically, I am starting early research to see where we could possibly move to next. I do wish that I had "roots" somewhere. The school I applied to this year is the same way with out-of-staters. Military get in-state tuition, but are considered out of state for acceptance (only 10% out of state as well). Anyway, I do appreciate the advice!

This is correct as I am at UK currently. They really only like in-state people and it's crazy the in-state people who get in just because their parents pay KY taxes. Such is life. It's not impossible though, you just gotta apply. They're going to be building a nice new building soon, and your out-of-state tuition would fit nicely with that increased cost. :hardy:

Hey! I got an interview for november 30 too, and I'm also a non-kentuckian. Think they'll make us fight over one of those out-of-state spots?

just went back from the nov 30 interview, so tired with 3 hours + driving.
i made same mistake, my brain went blank during individual interview and my voice was too soft, seems insecure and unconfident, and i spoke too fast, did not pronounce very clearly. :(

Hey, maybe you should check out Creighton University. They offer a web-based PharmD program. If you moved it would not matter.

Your lessons are sent to you online.
Your exams will be proctored at a nearby testing site. ( I think you have to notify them two weeks in advance if you want to change a testing site.)
You will have to go to their campus one-two weeks for labs.

There are several people on SDN currently in this program that could give you better info. ( I am applying to this program this year and am still learning about the details.)

Good luck! You'll find the right place.

Thank your husband for his service. :) Thank you for being there for him.

Has anyone else gotten an email from UK this week? I know the admissions committee met recently about all the applicants. I got my acceptance letter Tuesday.

I applied to 10 schools and got 9 interviews, UK was the one interview I didn't get (I am not a KY resident).

Can anyone who currently goes to UK now tell me the max amount of money they were allowed to get a loan for and if it was enough to live on? I'm curious as to how the budget and borrowing is set up.

I can't tell you the max amount off the top of my head but it was enough to get me through the year.

I think it was 18.5 from federal and you can take out a fed grad plus loan for however much more you need. I try not to think about loans :D

I have always been able to get enough to live off of. In fact, about the only time I have hit a hard spot is when I got two $200 speeding tickets in the course of 6 months.

haha, I dunno how I've managed to dodge speeding tickets but I've only gotten 1 before, it was only like $100. I've always gotten enough from loans too, but I also work probably 15-20 hours/wk.

We all know why you were speeding. You didn't want to miss one of those exciting Med Chem lectures.

But yeah, you should get plenty from loans. I don't work during the semester but I try to save some up when working during the summer and holidays.
