Hello,

Has any one who interviewed in late Nov/Dec/Jan received an acceptance/rejection from University of Maryland?

They said 3-4 weeks and it has been 8 weeks since interviewing there. The admissions office wouldn't say how much longer it would take.

the only info i have isn't good. When I interviewed (much earlier, early october). They told us that good news would come out in 3-4 weeks and it would take longer if it was waitlist/rejection. i hope this isn't true for you, good luck.

question for you guys.....i'm an out-of-stater (VA resident) and haven't gotten secondary from them yet (haven't heard anything else either). I called them this week but they were pretty rude and didn't really give me a straight answer.

does anyone know if this is an out-of-state delay thing, or is this pretty much gonna be a rejection later come some day soon?

thanks!

I am from out of state also and I have not heard anything from them since I sent in my AMCAS application.

i'm an out-of-stater, CA, and i got a secondary within a month of my primary; however, i haven't heard squat after secondary

I'm an out of stater too. I got my secondary shortly after submitting my AMCAS application. This was early in the season, though, so they sent it out in advance of receiving my verified app. I got an interview after maybe a month or so after I submitted my secondary. I interviewed there near Thanksgiving, and was accepted before Christmas.

Hope this helps.

One more thing. I am a Massachusetts resident now, but I grew up in Maryland - so I have ties to the state.

i have not heard anything since filling out their seconddary. i emailed them about a week ago for an update on my status, "If anything is missing from your file we will notify you immediately by mail. Otherwise, it is waiting to go before the Committee to see if you get an interview or not."

that's what they replied with.

i like being an out of stater going for a state school. i can feel their love.

Killing me softly, with this song...

Mr.

Furious:

what school did you go to?

maryland has no love. i have a friend who got into UPenn. she's from maryland and umaryland just didn't give her any love.

I am in the same boat as you bebe2 -- I am an in-stater at Maryland and I interviewed 4 months ago. Still have heard nothing, and I am shocked. My stats are way above their average, and I have lived in Maryland my whole life. Guess that I am just counting myself waitlisted, although I definitely deserve to get in. Take comfort that there is someone else in your situation, and that I am just as confused as you are.

Uggh, you guys are making me nervous.

I know!!! Maryland was the one school that I was counting on getting into since it was my state school, but that is obviously not the case. All I know is that there are a bunch of highly qualified and intelligent people out there who Maryland would be lucky to have and who would have considered Maryland because it is a wonderful school and the price is unbeatable. But after listening to Foxwell promise to let us know in two weeks yet having to anxiously check my mail for 4 months, I am pissed. Nothing like treating your applicants like dirt to form my last impression of the school. I think that says a lot about the school, because there are definitely places that have bent over backwards to be polite and promt with their responses and treat their interviewees with the same respect they give their colleagues. (Not that I have gotten into those schools either  ) However, I wonder how Maryland treats their students once they get them if this is the way they treat the ones they are suppossed to impress.

Have you tried to get in touch with them in the four months since your interview? I interviewed three weeks ago, and got a thin envelope scare on Tuesday. It turned out to just be the in-state tuition confirmation that someone had posted a warning about earlier.

Yeah, I sent them an email, wrote Foxwell a letter telling him how much I liked their school, sent them my last semester grades, etc etc. The lady who wrote me back an email a few weeks ago gave the generic "your file is with the committee who will let you know once they decide" Oh well, nothing like another waitlist to go on my impressive list. Hope that you application there has turned out better than mine.

Knock on wood <tapping my head>

Good luck to you too, of course. Maybe they're saving the best for last.

The admissions office is the rudest but you only have to deal with them as an applicant (unless you want to work for the adcom), and the financial aid office is pretty incompetent, but everyone else here (everyone that matters anyways) will treat you very nicely. :) PM me if any of you guys have any general questions about the school, and I will try my best to respond with what I know. I don't work for adcom, so I am not very familiar with what's going on with the admissions process this year, I just know that 2yrs ago, when I was accepted, they only took the 3 weeks they said that they were going to take to send me my letter. Good luck with your applications.

Hey Maryland folks,

ValleyGal - I'm in the same situation as you, I interviewed more than four months ago! I must have been a space cadet on my interiew day though, because I thought I heard that everyone would find out within a couple of weeks whether they were accepted or not, and obviously that's not the case.

I completely and totally understand that they only accept like half of those they interivew, and that they might not figure out exactly who for a while. But it would have been great to have gotten a wait-list letter, ya know?

Oh well, I don't mean to whine... I'm happy with how things turned out for me and I hope you all end up in good situations soon. Maryland is a great school, but there are a lot of great schools out there (though you gotta get used to the higher price tag  ).

Lots of luck. :)

After all my whining, I got my acceptance to Maryland in the mail today. Good luck to all those waiting; keep the faith.

Congratulations, Coalboy! That's awesome. :)

I hope lots of you folks get good letters soon!

So whining does work!!! Ahhhh, I knew my day would come soon!

Hey whats the deal Coalboy, congrats on your acceptance!! I havent heard anything yet. Iowa went well and I go to RWJ on 3/1. I am hoping to hear from Maryland and Virginia soon.

Holla Back :D

All I got was a financial aid packet. They sure fooled me into thinking I'm getting something special from them with that big envelope of theirs!

ouch...you guys are being kind of harsh towards maryland...I actually received an acceptance from them less than 2 weeks after my interview. I was surprised that it came so soon, but it seems to me that they do try and get out letters in a timely manner. Good luck to you guys!

Labangel, I sure hope that University of Maryland's SOM gives preference to their own Undergrads. I'm actually counting on it. :D

Anyway, last year the SOM accepted 29 undergrads from the University of Maryland at College Park. I'm hoping I'll have no trouble being accepted when my time comes.

Or else I will explode into a geyser of pure wrath. :p

Mr.

I don't know if we are being that hard on them!!! Some of us just need to let out 4 months of pent up steam -- Maryland seems to be a great school which produces great doctors from the ones who I have talked to. However, I would really really really really like to hear from them!!!
