Yes I did attend UM undergrad. While the application process is arduous and at times taxing, UM made the experience for me and my friends seem like a nightmare. Many of my friends from UM undergrad did not receive secondaries with good GPAs and MCAT scores. After waiting months, they send us letters asking if we were still interested in being admitted. I mean, what do you think...I applied didn't I? So, by then I had already been admitted and it was when they became interested in me....screw that.
The interview demonstrated the same level of unproffesionalism that I experienced throughout the process. Mr. Hinkly, albeit a very intelligent man, lacked honesty. In addition, the whole Florida resident thing was a joke, especially since they are trying to attract out of state applicants in hopes of raising their ebbing rank.
I guess I sound bitter no? Well it is because I went to UM undergrad in hopes of attending their medical school. In recent years it has been decaying. I still believe that the clinical exposure at Jackson is one of the best in the country and I hope Shalala cleans out the admissions department there. It is time for a change.
