Dear Students,

I'm pleased to inform you about the University of Michigan's exciting new VIR pathway. Here are some of the stats on their new pathway:

#1: This is the most diverse practice nationally with more than 10 angiography suites.

#2: There are 5 institutions nationally that have extensive training in arterial disease. Michigan is one of those 5 institutions.

#3: We provide a multidisciplinary vascular training which includes but is not limited to access to vascular lab and having residents / fellows be eligible for RPVI examination.

#4: The number of fellows is 5 and the number of angiography suites is more than 10. One of the fellows is always "post-call". This leaves 6 rooms a day without a fellow. This is plenty of opportunity for residents to get hands on training.

#5: UMich has at least 3 nationally recognized faculty and is a growing practice.

#6: Neuro-Interventional totally incorporated in VIR training.

#7: Top 5 residencies in country

#8: Highest Fellow to procedure ratio in the country
(this is real with no exaggeration)
For example:
• 15-20 TIPS / Fellow / Year
• >50 TACEs / Fellow / Year
• 10 Y-90 / Fellow / Year
• 30-40 PTC / Fellow / Year
• 5 Carotid Stents / Fellow / Year
• >5 Aortic Fenestrations / Fellow / Year
• 10-15 TEVARS / Fellow / Year
• 5 EVARS / Fellow / Year
• 15-20 SFA recannulations / Fellow / Year
• 15-20 SAFARI (SFA & below-knee recannulations / Fellow / Year
• 10-15 Vascular Malformations / Fellow / Year

For MS4 students interested in applying, please fill out the normal ERAS application.
