University of Nevada bypassing AMCAS

I got a letter in the mail today from the University of Nevada requesting me to send official school transcripts. It seems that U of Nevada will bypass AMCAS this year. I wouldn't doubt if other smaller schools will also do the same. A quote from the letter:

"...AMCAS is currently experiencing extensive problems with the processing and distribution of medical school applications...the University of Nevada School of Medicine would like to apologize to you for the confusion and frustration that you must be experiencing..."

I feel bad that the school has to apologize for AMCAS. I certainly haven't seen an apology from AMCAS yet. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and expect an apology soon. Perhaps after they reply to some the e-mails that I sent weeks ago. Or maybe after they verify my application that was submitted on 7/6. We will see...

mpp, I asked you this on the SNOW thread, but maybe you didn't see it. Are you a WWAMI applicant to UWSOM?

Have you considered a pro-active approach to getting verified? See the threads entitled "Nancy Tillinghast is a Saint!!!", "I will be verified on Friday the 19th!!!!!!!" and "Legal Letter Works" for some ideas if you haven't already considerd and rejected this approach. Three and a half months is a ridiculous amount of time to have to wait for verification!

Yes I am a WWAMI applicant to UW. I am in the process of trying alternate approaches to getting verified. Thanks for the ideas. I assume you are also a WWAMI applicant. Good luck. We've got a while to wait before the Alaska interviews usually sometime in January...a good time to take a break from the arctic winter and visit Seattle.
