Is anyone else slightly nettled by all the recent "this school vs. that school" posts? Are there still people out there waiting for interviews or 1st acceptances? Throw some sympathy this-a-way.

The rest of you, be honest, is it over? Should I be hopeful for more interviews? Or just sit and wait on the three I have and bite off all my fingernails every 3rd week of the month, since that's when all three schools happen to meet every fateful moon.

I also applied to Tulane and Jefferson. I applied to Tulane pre-hurricane, you think they lost my file? As for Jefferson-- poo on them, and their ridiculously simple application-- you'd think that would make it easier to review. I sent them an update letter a few weeks back, just to remind them of my existence. Have you called either of those?

i'm in the same boat. I haven't heard a word from half of the schools i applied (8 schools to be exact: Brown, NYMC, ROchester, USC, Pritzker, Loyola, St. Louis, Creighton). I KNOW WAITING IS MISERABLE, but HANG IN THERE PEOPLE, WE WILL SEE THE LIGHT SOON.

I applied uber early, but my mistake was that I was too ambitious. I'm 4 and 3 for rejection/interviews, and I have two fistfuls of top notch schools (for me) left to hear from. At this point I'm really just waiting for rejections-- any news is better than this wretched wait. I want to know now, so I can make plans to reapply or do something else worthwhile. Or escape to europe to dig a hole to cry in.

Here's my remaining list, I should make the rounds and call, I guess:

Baylor, Jefferson, Loyola, Mt. Sinai, Tulane, OHSU, SLU, USC, Yale.

Oh and Drexel, they put me on hold. whatever that means.

Hey ya'll still hang in there. It is not over yet. Although it may seem late, there are usually 15-20 spots still available in January. Tulane is still kind of backed up right now so you can still be getting invites. As for all of those still waiting try sending adcoms an e-mail about yourself (state gpa, extraciriculars,LEADERSHIP positions, community service and what you have done with 4 yrs of your college life besides studying for classes). The people who are going to get into med school late in the game are those people who show a genuine feeling of becoming a physician. Trust me it never hurts to ask nicely.

Also, I'm "on hold" from Drexel, too. My MCAT is the same as yours and my grades are similar. Hmmm... I have a feeling we're being strung along until they have a chance to see if they have other applicants whose stats are commensurate with each other.

ME TOO! Grr Northwestern. And a bunch of ppl just got interview invites right around xmas, so I thought maybe they were going through the apps again and I would get an interview this time around... Guess not. Anyway, I applied to 16 schools (complete in late August), and have not heard a peep from half of them.

Yeah, that's the one thing I hate most about this process-- that it's okay to have a complete mismatch in GPA/MCAT if the GPA is high, but not the other way around. Isn't that the point of the MCAT? To try to have an objective measure?

I have been complete at Rochester since mid July. I havent heard a peep. I havent heard from many other schools such as SLU but they havent rejected anyone yet. Rochester has, but apparently they hung my application on the wall for a good laugh.

we get so much mail that's not addressed to us at my house that i then start thinking, "what if my rejection letter got lost in the mail???"

then i start thinking, "omigod what if my interview letter got lost in the mail and i missed the deadline!"

I just called Jefferson. They gave me the runaround. I hadn't even finished my question yet (which was to ask when I can expect communication from the school, since I've been complete since september), the woman on the line asked for my AMCAS ID, and then looked it up, only to tell me, "okay, your file is complete and under review." Oh gee, thanks, I didn't know that already. She also told me that if I am invited for an interview, I can expect to hear from them anytime from now until April (she either said the 2nd week of april, or April 2nd, I wan't paying attention) because that is the last date for interviews. And the notices will go out either by email or regular mail, which is odd, why don't they just streamline everything, and choose one of the two? Oh wait, that's right, it's because they're evil and want to keep me guessing on two fronts!

That really sucks. Actually, I found out that my LORs never made it to Yale - AFTER their deadline. The people in the admissions office said to still send them in, but I can probably kiss that goodbye (if I even had a chance in the first place).

I got an email yesterday telling me as much. At least it didn't say "Happy New Year! New scientific F0RMUIA will destroy VlAGRA....................... survivals! Try SPUR--M now! and with our M0neyback guaaraantee you have absolutely nothing to I0se!" But at least that email made me laugh.

Wright state has 9 (yes 9) OOS matriculants out of ~2000 OOS applicants. What the hell was I thinking. I'm actually really impressed by what I've read about their program and my interactions with their admissions staff, and I would really like to go there - yes, I would like to go to Dayton.
Also, what happened to all your avatars of those unbearably adorable kittens?

All TX public schools use TMDSAS instead of AMCAS. We rank the schools we interview at, and they rank us. On midnight Feb. 1, we all find out where we matched (were accepted), if at all. This is the last year of the match and OOS applicants don't use it, they just have rolling admissions like AMCAS schools.

Eeek! Sorry to break it to you, but I think that means you're gonna hear bad news soon! It happened to my boyfriend's best friend. They kick you out of the system before sending out the Big R. I think it's a really mean way of doing it.

But maybe it's just a glitch, it seemed like that happened to someone else on this thread, and he/she was able to log in later. Good luck!

Dayton is actually really nice--I have some family down there. Whoa--I had no idea that Wright took so few OOS students---LOL! Hopefully I'll feel some Ohio love from them! I change my avatar almost everyday--maybe soon the kitties will return. Your avatar cracks me up, btw

Well mine said "still" even though I've only checked it 2 or 3 times. I know the only reason they have rejected me yet is because I have a legacy connection there. The delayed rejection is apparently some sort of courtesy, I guess to make me/my parents think that they gave my application careful consideration. It's okay NW, I know I am not worthy. 😛

I'm with you BOBODR, I want to hear from U of R too! I was complete since early August. I really like it there. I've been at their summer program for two years and fell in love with the school. No love back though. GRRR on the ADCOM, and please pull up two files for BOBODR and big_smiles (but only if in a good mood please!) 😍
Hopefully we'll see each other at the class of 2010 - -I'm not losing hope yet, but fear rejection. 😡
