University of the Incarnate word

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
According to their website:
“Review of applicants will begin first business day of February of the application year.”
I guess that means just a few more days.
Are there any UIW pre-pharmacy students on this board who can tell us more about their school?

Well, I haven't heard anything from them either. Although, I turned in my app pretty late...about 5 days before the deadline. 🙄 When did you guys turn your apps in?

It certainly has a scary name. :scared:

I feel you on that one but I guess because it is a missionary school if you know what I mean.
I just got an e-mail from them asking me to participate in an on-line survey about accreditation. I sent out my application just a day before the deadline and in the e-mail they sent me today, they said that I gat the e-mail because I applied to their school of pharmacy. So I guess that means they got my application

They have scary ads too. The guy who plays Eva Longoria's husband on Desperate Housewives graduated from there, and he's one of their spokesmen. Every commercial that he's in ends with him saying "And now, the universe is MINE." Every time I see it I expect him to start petting a long-haired cat, cackling maniacally.

Haven't heard anything yet......I hope that's not a bad thing? 😕

Maybe they have to transform their acceptance letters into flesh. There are many words in an acceptance letter and it takes time to make them all incarnate. This could be a time consuming process.

Who is going to the interview this Friday?

I've received an invite a couple days ago. Their tuition is outrageous though -- 25K/year.

That's why I didn't apply there, even though my husband has a good job here in San Antonio. Plus, I believe that until UIW gets fully accredited (i.e. graduates its first class), pharmacy students aren't eligible for federal loans. I'm pretty sure that it will be a good program (I know a couple of the professors superficially), but I can't go into that much debt right now. One thing that boggles me about UIW is that one of its main aims is to produce pharmacists that can serve the Hispanic community - yet the tuition costs are so high. $25K/year is more than the average salary for a lot of people that live in San Antonio, especially a lot of the folks on the West side (if you're familiar at all with San Antonio, you'll understand - the poverty rate is astounding).

However, all of this being said, good luck to those who got interviews! As much as I kid about the school and its scary commercials, I'm glad that it exists.

I got it by email on Saturday. Have you heard anything? If you turned your application in close to the deadline then that might take them more time to send you an invite. U of Texas still has not sent my transcripts over yet and it have been over 3 weeks. Where else did you apply? Good luck to you---you will hear soon.

Yeah..I turned in my application a couple days before the deadline. 🙄 This is actually the only school I applied to.....my rec letters were taking too long to be completed so I missed the deadlines. Oh well..there's always next year right?

Any news from UIW?. Interview, acceptance or rejection? anyone. 😎

Hello to all of you. Some of your posts are funny 🙄 I guess. I am a pre-pharmacy student at UIW. Everyone will hear about acceptance on April 1st. Those of you who have had interviews had your pictures taken with your lab coats. This was done so that the pictures of those accepted will be placed on the website, I thought that was a cool idea. FYI for those who care, AACP came to our school to meet some of the students(I was one) tour the campus/ect. to make a report back in Oct. The report came out in January and we are ahead of where we need to be in terms of accreditation. Everything is in place. Our dean will be the only dean to begin two pharmacy schools, as she opened Hampton. Dr. J. also had an influential role in implementing the pharmd program at Florida A&M. All of our faculty are well experienced so I dont think getting acredited will be an issue at all. I believe our school will provide an excellent pharmacy education that will be taught in a great atmosphere. I LOVE MY SCHOOL!!! 😀 Congrats to those of you who got invites, and good luck to all! 👍
