lindandy said:It is very low stress. Know why you want to go to Vegas, if not your first choice don't lie, but be able to convay that you really want to go there. Know your essay, as you will interview with a student and this is the only thing they know about you. The student just wants to make sure you will fit into the class so be very nice, flirt if they are cute. The instructors are great, I BS most of my interviewwhich was really cool and didn't get asked alot of hard questions. Be early, at least 20 minutes, everyone else will be and they started early on mine. make sure you are dressed nice and just relax. Congrats on your interview, good luck!
Thought you were die hard on UNLV.Beestieboy said:Don't hate me Andy and Darkwing. I'm going to Creighton instead of UNLV. It was one of the hardest choices of my life and I'm not exaggerating.

Beestieboy said:. Where my family and I were living was a major factor. I just went out to Creighton and checked out the school and the area around. I talked with a lot of students and asked them where they lived. I checked out the area and just loved it. I knew my family would be better off there than in Vegas. Cost of living is lower (much lower) and....it's not Vegas. The Vegas summers.....nasty.
More good news then: Several of those acceted have choosen other schools, so there aer even more openings.JohnHICP said:In case anyone is interested, I just spoke with the admissions office and the guy told me that they have only accepted around 20 or so students with only about 8 of them being in-state. This is great news for an in-stater like me and may be very good news to others as well.
if that's a crappy area - whats north las vegas - strawberry fields?flossin' said:I am an in-state student and got accepted at UNLV. I am going to either Case or Nova though so theres another in-state spot open. The facility is really nice I just am not to fond of Vegas and the school is in kind of a crappy part of town... Nice people there too

Charleston and Shadow Lane isnt that crappy, its probably just because of the health district and University Medical Center and a billion small businesses makes it look old and run down, but there arent a lot of residences around there, most students commute to school, summerlin is just like 10 min up Charleston.lindandy said:Is it really worth the money, and moving again to go out of state. What reasons, besides the " crappy Area" do you have for choosing another school? Isn't case almost 100K more?
Vegas is more than a strip - I'm from NYC and live on the West Side - there is alot of things to do that a an UnGrad u just don't ecperience. My Und Grad was done in Philly and I can understand about wanting to get out.greenday said:Is it because the fact that UNLV's such a commuter's school? I have friends who can't wait to get out of Vegas after several years of undergrad. Sure partying sometimes could be fun, but attending UNLV hasn't been a great experience for them. It's time for a change.

There are aloth of opps in LV...city is growing by leaps and bounds. People who have teeth prob everywhere.
Also - UNR has a pretty good residancy prog.
Vegas is centrally located - if you want beach/boating/water struff -u can go to leake mead - california - arizona- UT....only a few hrs away..same with skiing/winter activities.
Wine country is not to far eaither 🙂
On the out skirts you have many beautiful site - esp red rock canyon that provides beautiful and meditative sites. Rock climbing/hiking/waterfalls-get back to nature....
theres a lot more!
laura477 said:Hi there,
Also, at the interview they mentioned that part of the curriculum included giving presentations-does anyone know how often these presentations are? (I hate public speaking) So now I am faced with this decision and don't really know what to do- so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Summerlin, which is the most gorgeous area, has been named 'the best master planned community in the nation' like 11 straight years is only 10 minutes from campus. Also, Henderson, which is very nice, isnt all that far. It's not like california where 10 miles might take you 2 hours in the morning. In Vegas, everything is 30-40 minutes or less.laura477 said:Hi there,
I am in the same predicament as beastieboy was a couple of weeks ago. I just found out I was accepted to UNLV, but I was already accepted to and sent my deposit in to Creighton.
I am from California and have two kids, and UNLV would be closer to family, but I am worried about raising my kids in Vegas. I really liked Omaha, but Creighton is not as technologically advanced as UNLV, and the curriculum is more traditional, as opposed to UNLV's integrated curriculum. Does Vegas have nice communities (good for kids) not too far from the school? i have a house here alreadydanieldoc said:How much are you paying to live in Summerlin? I drove through that place while I was down there and it looked liked prices were way to high to afford.
Well, I had my interview today, and it was AWESOME! I was blown away, not a single bad thing to say about the school (except maybe the lack of summer break). Amazing facilities and faculty.kboyhappy said:So i have an interview on the first week of march, is that too late? I was wondering if anyone knew how full UNLV was and if I really even have a chance. How do they do interviews too? do they interview often (multiple times a week) or do they do large group interviews like pittsburgh?? and how soon do you find out after the interview? any info/tips would be nice...thanks
UtahDDS said:Well well well.... I never thought I was good enough to contribute to the UNLV thread but today I found out that i am accepted. What a releif. I am not exactly sure what is going to happen but things are sounding pretty good down in Vegas.
UtahDDS said:I called and asked my status... I couldn't believe it; It was like I was in shock! 😀
congrats = will u go?kittylover said:yesterday when I checked my AADSAS status, my UNLV status mysteriously changed to "Offer Made", although nobody called me.
I called to ask and they told me they sent me an acceptance email, which I never received. Did anyone get such email from them? I'm just curious what it looks like.
