I think this thread has focused too intently on professionalism within the bounds of student-faculty relationships. What about general unprofessionalism? A faculty member once wandered into my cubicle without warning and told me the following "joke" during clinic while I had a (female) patient in the chair:
"Hey XXXXX, if women are so good at multitasking, why can't they have a headache and have sex with you at the same time? Right?"
Rather bizarre day. Luckily, the patient was very chill and we were able to deal with it in a very discrete manner. It's never comfortable to tell a faculty member that they just did something very inappropriate. Also luckily, the faculty member didn't hold it against me and everyone moved on. Can anyone share a similar story?
