Not sure if this is an appropriate question for this forum, but where else have people applied to aside from this program? I want a few backups just in case D:

I'm a current Post-Bac student at the TTUHSC 2-Year MedSci program. If anyone has any questions about the other Post-Bac's in Texas, I'd be happy to answer them for you. I don't think there is a specific thread for our program.

Hey guys, I have a question about something thats been bothering me for a while. I submitted my application back in mind January with all of my letters and supporting documents. I have nothing on my "to do" list; however, my application still says incomplete. I emailed the school about this and they basically told me that everything is good on their end and that I should just use a different browser. However, when I go onto the portal, I see that my application's checklist is complete, but still says incomplete. I have a screenshot of this attached. I am afraid of a possible system error that could cause my application to be ignored? Does anyone else have this issue, or understand it further than I do?
Thanks

Thanks View attachment 250578

I had the same issue. Submitted everything in early January, but it said incomplete even though there was nothing on the checklist. I called and the girl said that the system did not automatically mark one box "complete" on their end. She looked over my application just to make sure everything was uploaded without a problem, then asked me to send a screenshot of the "incomplete" and then they manually changed it to complete. I suggest you call and get that taken care of ASAP.

No specific length as long as you answer fully. I hope my answers were good enough to convince them I REAAAALLY deserve a spot :(

I said this in an earlier post, but the earliest I saw someone being accepted in last classes' thread was Feb 15 2018. I'm assuming around this time this year ( next few days), the first wave of acceptances will be commence. Is anxiety dismantling anyone else currently or nah just me?

I think I read that they should be around 700-800 words? But I think it’s more about if you answered the question thoroughly

The upper limit is 700-800 words. But obviously some of the questions require a more thorough answer than the others, so word count will vary. And yeah, i agree that it's more about how well you answered, rather than quantity. Btw when did y'all submit? I heard those who submitted mid to late January should hear back sometime in February or like the first week of March.

That's around when I was complete as well. I'm anticipating an answer by late this month, or maybe in March. Also, I tried to go the MyUNT HSC page, and I think something may be going down, since it's taking years to load the page. Their servers may be experiencing abnormally high traffic. Wonder why lol

I applied in december but my application was just marked as complete last friday. I am so anxious to hear back from them. I have already heard back from an out of state school i applied to and I am just even more anxious about this program because I didnt get into that one. I just hope the emphasis on the last 60 hours is true. I just want to get in lol

I'm sorry to hear about your other school. If you don't mind me asking, what other schools did you apply to?

That's weird! Hopefully they'll start sending out updates today. The waiting game sucks.

Do results usually happen weekly (once it begins) and on a certain day?

I think you wait until you've been offered an acceptance, but @pathway2doc can surely help us with this cause I'm not sure. Also, are there a lot of scholarships out there for this? I remember one girl from the program said she got $30,000 in loans! scary!

I apologize for being M.I.A, it's been a busy week and I'm glad it's almost over :). Sadly, there isn't a lot of scholarship available. The school does offer SOME scholarships, but only the people who are accepted early have a shot (not guaranteed). it's first come, first serve. The scholarship application deadline is March 1st, by then, only a handful of applicants are accepted. If you're accepted, fill your fafsa as quickly as possible, then apply for the scholarships available on the school's website. I don't know the amount that's offered, but anything helps. Most of us get loans, and yes, it can run up to $30,000. I personally took less and found ways to cut down expenses. My rent is cheap, I don't eat out often, and I try to be as frugal as possible when it comes to buying anything.

No worries, you worry about kicking ass in the program! We're rooting for you lol. and thanks for the response! That sucks that the scholarship deadline is so early. Do you think maybe it'll be pushed back since they started reviewing late this year? They were supposed to start reviewing the first Friday of January according to what admissions told me in December, but it was mid-late January and they hadn't started yet when I talked to them.

Is your apartment near the school? How cheap is "cheap rent"? lol, and how is the apartment for that value? How much would you say you spend monthly? Sorry, Im just trying to think of a budget to work towards to last me for a year.

HAHA! The server is going to crash because of us!! My daily ritual consists of checking UNT website and my junk folder in gmail for breakfast, snack time, lunch, snack time #2, and dinner then once more before going to sleep

Generally every two weeks, and maybe closer to every week towards the end. There seems to be a Friday pattern (for a batch of students). Though some students would get accepted during other days of the week. I'd say, just wait and be patient. It'll happen before you know it :)

No, I live about 15-20 mins away from campus. The apartments around campus were too expensive for me. I live in a two bedroom apartment paying $500 (including utilities) per month. Do your research and make sure you visit before signing your lease. I love my apartment (I won't disclose the name, sorry), but it's pretty nice, especially for the amount I'm paying. The rest of your budget depends on you, such as groceries, gas, misc, ETC.

Hi pathway2doc,

After years of stalking this forum I have finally created an account for the purpose of responding to your previous post.

How in the world were you able to find a two-bedroom apartment for $500 in Fort Worth??

I moved to Fort Worth recently, but I am in a shared living situation. I would love to find something similar to what you have described.

Any information would help!

Thanks in advance!

I meant $500, with a roommate. We both have our own bedroom and bathroom.

haven't heard anything. looking back at last year's thread, there was a wave of acceptances on 2/15 and then another on 2/20. so maybe they'll release on 2/20?

What are the average stats entering in?

I feel you! I actually searched on FB, and they do have a group made now. There were only 2 admins in it though, so I would assume no acceptances have been announced yet.

So I heard there are no secondary applications, what about interviews? I haven’t seen any talk about interviews so I was wondering if they even have them before acceptances are handed out.

Is everyone currently finishing up undergrad? Is there anyone working?

Does anyone consider themselves non-traditional or trying to make a career change?

What is everyone up to?? I am currently a teacher.

Thanks in advance for sharing!

I consider myself non-trad! I graduated 2017! Underrgad took me 5 years. Got my B.S degree in Biological Chemistry, minors in Spanish and Biology. After graduating I worked as a part- time scribe and part- time clinical research assistant. Did that for a year or so. Now I work under a primary care physician as a Clinical Allergy Specialist and still work occasional shifts on certain studies for my Clinical Research Job

Because we're all anxious to hear back...let's guess (just for fun) which day we think they'll release the first wave of decisions and see who's closest - any guesses?
Hmm okay i believe March 1st is when they will start assessing the application lolol

Based on the past years and given that they made the group, I think the first wave will be end of this week or early next week. Hopefully.

I'm guessing and hoping that the earliest is this Friday

Yeah I'm hoping this Friday, but realistically I think it will be next Friday, March 1st. D:

So I noticed there are 3 members in the FB group now instead of 2... Maybe today is the day! *fingers crossed*

I looked this up on my phone and it didn't show up. It gave me "related searches" and previous years are showing. Are you able to see the members? Could just be admins or faculty still.
