Update letters with bulletpoints or a full blown letter?

I use a bullet point letter. I think either way is fine. To me, a letter is to wordy.

Bullets are fine if it's clear, but we're not talking about an essay here. You are going to need to write a decent one paragraph letter if you plan to pursue this career. Might as well learn how to do it now.

I would say write it out in the format of a formal letter.

Let me clarify my above statement. I did a combination of both. For example, I started with an opening paragraph which said I really want to go to this school and for that reason I am updating the committee on the following activities or grades. Then I used a bullet point for my updates and then used a closing paragraph. Then I signed it.

I think that either way is fine, but if you don't think that your writing is stellar then you should ask a few friends to proofread it for you. There's nothing worse than sending out a letter praising yourself and realizing later that you mispelled something or wrote a sentence that doesn't really make sense.
