Hey All,

I have some interviews coming up at my top choices and have stumbled upon something. I recently asked the free clinic where I volunteer to write me a letter of recommendation so I may send it to my top choice skools if I decided to since that is one of the major activities I've been involved with while taking the year off along with research.

I saw a copy of the letter and the words 'reserved person' and 'tends to be quiet' were in there; besides these, everything else in the letter is great and in details (what i do, how i am dedicated, etc). so now i am pondering hard if i should send this letter as an update or not, currently i am thinking 'no' bc i don't want to jeopardize my chances as my stats are near avg for my top choices.

another question i have is if anyone used a letter from their volunteer coordinator? and if they thought that it is necessary to have a letter from a place where they've been volunteering for a while (even though most the letters are similar and a bit generic).

One of the schools I have interview at is vandy and i've already sent 5 letters to them (2 academics, 2 research, 1 leadership) and I don't know but I keep thinking maybe that want to see a letter about volunteering? Can anyone please give me some pointers? Thanks!

interesting scenario, i probably wouldnt send it, but that's me. i didnt send a letter from the place i volunteered at so i m not realli sure about that, maybe other ppl can answer that question. when's ur vanderbilt interview? good luk.

You could send another LOR to them, but I would think it would just go unread. Especially if you have already sent 5 letters to some schools, the last thing they need is another LOR stating essentially the same thing. I would just stick with putting that new information in your update letters (if you're going to do them) and hope for the best. Just my opinion though, hope this helps!

i'd suggest not sending it...first it doesn't seem like a strong letter and second it would be a strange thing to do. i would suggest that you instead write an update letter after your interview where you can also express your interest in the school and your enjoyment of interview day.
