Hey guys,
So last year Upstate did the same thing to me. They put me on hold for an interview, and this is probably not what you want to hear, but in the end I got a rejection. However I was told that I can contact the school for advising and did that. I ended up trooping all the way to syracuse from NYC just to show my face and be told exactly what I knew theyd tell me :retake the MCAT. But that trip was way worth it. I did it cuz I wanted to show my interest and I actually kept in touch with the person I met with and guess what. I retook my MCAT and sadly (no tragicly) got the same exact score. But heres the catch. I called up the person I had seen last year and she told me that its not all about the MCAT and to wait. And its true that I did improve my application in every other way possible, but I got an interview and although I know my application is really good (aside from the low MCAT, 26 by the way) I know that the fact that I went there had something to do with me getting the interview. Im gonna be honest with you, and (I know I can be wrong) but upstate has so many different waitlists. They have the before interview list, and two after interview waitlists (a high priority and a regular), so the chances that you guys may get an interview are not that great especially if the high priority and regular after interview lists are also getting long. Im not saying this to discourage you. in fact I want to encourage you to show some interest to the school, go for an advising session, I guarantee you it will help. By going for that you are at least showing your face and getting someone from the adcom on your side. Did I mention the person that advises you is on the adcom. Ok I think I have gone on for too long. But I hope ive helped.
Good luck
