How much weight do y'all think med schools place on upward trends???......>Cause I had a dismal first two years, but since then (I am now a senior in my second semester)have had a 3.8, including a 4.0 for my senior year(hopefully I'll get a 4.0 my second semester like my first), while taking higher level bio courses, such as anatomy, histology, and microbiology. My GPA is not bad.....3.45 CUM, and 3.30 Science, but I hope schools will look at my upward trend because my last two years were pretty solid at a 3.8.

they definately look at upward trends. i didn't do very well my first year bc i was taking class like french and english which i'm not good at and i just don't like. after that my gpa kept getting higher and by senior year i almost had a 4.0. i interviewed at a lot of schools and only at one place was any comment made about my freshman year grades. the doctor said, "so french isn't your strong point," and i just agreed. i've been accepted at 9 schools, i have a solid gpa and decent mcat scores but neither are that impressive. there's a lot more to getting into med school then just your gpa so wouldn't worry about that too much. extra curriculars and letters of recommendation carry a lot of weight.
